Roma seem willing to send Rasmus Kristensen back to Leeds United after a one-year loan spell at the Stadio Olimpico, but the Giallorossi have yet to make a final decision on Diego Llorente.

Both Llorente and Kristensen are on loan at Roma until the end of the season but a recent report of La Gazzetta dello Sport claimed that the Giallorossi had already decided to send the Denmark international back to Elland Road when his loan deal ends on June 30.

The 26-year-old has made 27 appearances across all competitions, but his consistent playing time in Serie A is partially explained by Roma’s decision to keep him out of the UEFA Europa League squad list this season. Kristensen hasn’t played in any European match this season and what he’s shown in domestic competitions is probably not enough for the Giallorossi to confirm his stay beyond the summer.

On the other hand, Llorente has already completed a full year in the capital, having first joined the Giallorossi on loan in January 2023.

He returned to Leeds last summer and then joined Roma again on a temporary transfer. The Giallorossi have an option to buy him for €5m and are considering whether to activate it.

Contrary to Kristensen, Llorente was included in Roma’s UEFA list and has already made 34 appearances across all competitions, scoring a decisive goal in a 2-2 draw against Fiorentina on March 10.

Llorente was not supposed to be a regular starter at the beginning of the season, but recurrent injuries to Chris Smalling have allowed the Spaniard to get regular playing time and even if his future at Roma remains uncertain, he surely has more chances to stay than Kristensen.
