Papu Gomez explains when Atalanta realised they needed to ‘step up a gear’ in the Champions League. “Nobody expected us to get this far.”

La Dea are in their first ever Champions League campaign and lost the opening three group games, but completed a remarkable comeback to not only qualify, but also eliminate Valencia in the Round of 16.

Agent: 'Luis Alberto in sync with Lazio'

Luis Alberto’s agent confirmed the Spain international is very close to agreeing a new contract extension at Lazio. “He has become a complete player here.”

The 27-year-old made the move from Liverpool for €4m in 2016 and is under contract until 2022, but is going from strength to strength with the Biancocelesti.

“I think he has become a complete player at Lazio,” agent Alvaro Torres of You First Sports told Calciomercato.it.

Suarez: 'Strongest interest from Lazio'

Watford-owned Luis Suarez confirms “the strongest interest is from Lazio, but also Atletico Madrid and Valencia” once his Real Zaragoza loan ends.

The 22-year-old Colombian centre-forward came up through the Watford youth academy and had loan spells at Valladolid, Gimnastic and currently Real Zaragoza.

He has scored 17 goals in 29 La Liga 2 games this season, along with three assists, earning him links with Napoli too.

Report: Valencia in for Callejon

Valencia have reportedly offered Napoli veteran Jose Callejon a route back to Spain with a three-year deal at the Mestalla.

The 33-year-old looks set to leave when his current contract expires in June and has been linked with moves to Spain and Turkey in recent months.

The Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolò Schira claims the winger would prefer a return to his native Spain, where he has an offer from Los Che in La Liga.

Florenzi: 'Fonseca was honest with me'

Alessandro Florenzi gives Roma coach Paulo Fonseca credit for “being very clear with me” ahead of his Valencia move, reveals he turned down Inter and the few dreams he has yet to make come true.

The Italy international joined Valencia on loan in January to get more playing time, as he clashed with coach Paulo Fonseca and did not want to risk losing his place in the Euro 2020 squad.

“I was very proud to wear the Roma armband, as I came after Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

Ranieri: 'Parma tougher than Leicester'

Claudio Ranieri described his adventures and regrets at Inter, Juventus, Sampdoria and Valencia, noting Parma was “tougher than winning the Premier League with Leicester.”

The 68-year-old has experienced such a varied career in Italy, England, Spain, France and Greece, but his biggest regret is returning to Valencia in 2004.

Dortmund step up Ferran Torres bid

Juventus face strong competition for Valencia star Ferran Torres, as German reports claim Borussia Dortmund are offering €40m.

Spanish and Italian sources over the last few days suggested that Juve were among the favourites for Ferran Torres, whose contract with Valencia expires in June 2021.

According to German newspaper Bild, Borussia Dortmund are stepping up their pursuit with a proposal worth €40m.

There is a release clause worth €100m, but because the contract is running down, he’d probably be allowed to leave for €60m.

Valencia given Florenzi price-tag

Alessandro Florenzi could make his Valencia loan move permanent for €12m, ending his lifelong affiliation with Roma.

According to Spanish side TodoFichajes, the Giallorossi set the price-tag of €12m to transform the six-month loan into a genuine transfer.

The 29-year-old only managed to make five appearances in the Valencia jersey after his January switch to Spain.

He was suffering from chickenpox and made his recovery only for the world of sport to be blocked by the coronavirus pandemic.

Everton eye Lozano and Allan
