Cesena have officially parted company with Coach Domenico Di Carlo after their relegation.

The tactician arrived in December to replace Pierpaolo Bisoli, but failed to prevent the slide back into Serie B.

This morning Cesena released a statement confirming Di Carlo and his staff, Claudio Valigi, Lorenzo Riela and Michele Santoni, have been released.

'Cesena deserved better'

Coach Domenico Di Carlo believes 'injuries and luck' are to blame for Cesena's demotion to Serie B.

Today's game against Cagliari could have been a decisive clash to escape relegation, but neither of the teams have enough points to make it anymore. Even so, the 51-year-old sees a point to the game.

“This game means a lot because we're playing in front of our supporters,” he said. “We must do our best and honour our shirt.

Di Carlo: ‘Refs lack courage’

Cesena Coach Domenico Di Carlo says referees ‘must have courage’ after his side were denied a penalty against Napoli.

The Cavallucci Marini saw strong claims for a penalty turned down during their 3-2 defeat, when Manolo Gabbiadini appeared to foul Franco Brienza.

“That’s the eighth penalty in 10 or 11 games which we haven’t been given,” Di Carlo lamented in an interview with Sky after the match.

Di Carlo: 'Fiorentina were better'

Di Carlo: 'Pace to beat Genoa’

Coach Domenico Di Carlo believes only great speed of execution can defeat Genoa, while Cesena can't give up on safety.

The Cavallucci Marini are eight points behind Atalanta in the safe zone and will need a very strong season finale to escape relegation, but the 51-year-old believes the target is not out of reach if they analyse their adversaries one at a time.

“The great difference compared to last Saturday's game against Sampdoria is going to be pace,” he said in the Press conference ahead of today's game.
