De Ligt: 'Proud to be at Juve'

Matthijs de Ligt has revealed he wants “to stay” at Juventus “for a long time” and said he’s “proud to wear the shirt”.

The Dutch defender has played 17 games since his move from Ajax and was put under pressure to perform from the off when Giorgio Chiellini injured himself in the first game of the season.

Since then, the 20-year-old has received both criticism and praise for his performances with the Old Lady and he has admitted it’s “a big challenge”.

Sarri: 'Demiral bursting with energy'

Maurizio Sarri explained his choices as Juventus beat Sampdoria 2-1, including the all-attack trident and Merih Demiral. “He’s bursting with energy.”

The Bianconeri secured their status as at the very least joint Serie A leaders over Christmas with a 2-1 victory away to Sampdoria.

Paulo Dybala’s volley and a soaring Cristiano Ronaldo header proved the difference, while Gianluca Caprari had temporarily equalised.

Paratici: 'Draw could've been worse'

Juventus director of sport Fabio Paratici is happy the club drew Lyon in the last 16 of the Champions League. “It could’ve been a lot worse.”

The Bianconeri travel to Lyon on February 26 with the return fixture three weeks later on March 17.

Paratici was speaking at the Golden Boy awards, where he picked up the prize for best sporting director.

“I have half a smile, because we know with the other potential opponents in pot two it could’ve been a lot worse. We know the Champions League is always challenging," he said.

Juve: Trio back for Udinese

Juventus trio Matthijs de Ligt, Douglas Costa and Rodrigo Bentancur are available to face Udinese after resuming full training.

The Bianconeri face Udinese at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday, and the club reports the aforementioned three trained regularly with the rest of the squad this afternoon.

Bentancur picked up a knock in the 3-1 defeat to Lazio last weekend, whilst Costa has been out injured for much of the season.

On the other hand, Aaron Ramsey is working away from the group, following a personalised training regime.

Bentancur back against Udinese?

Maurizio Sarri will reportedly have Rodrigo Bentancur back when Juventus face Udinese in Serie A this Sunday, to replace the banned Miralem Pjanic.

According to Tuttosport, Bentancur has recovered from the knee injury he sustained during the match against Lazio last weekend.

Therefore, the newspaper expects he will be back in contention to face Udinese, in a boost for Sarri who has lost Pjanic to suspension.

The former Napoli boss is also without Sami Khedira and Aaron Ramsey in the middle of the park.

De Ligt left out of Leverkusen trip

Juventus travel to Germany for the final Champions League group game against Bayer Leverkusen without Matthijs de Ligt, Aaron Ramsey or Douglas Costa.

It kicks off on Wednesday at 20.00 GMT and the Bianconeri are already qualified top of their group.

With this in mind, De Ligt is left at home along with injured Ramsey, Douglas Costa, Giorgio Chiellini, Sami Khedira and Rodrigo Bentancur.

Emre Can is not registered on the Champions League squad.

Cassano: 'Waited months for Sarri'

Antonio Cassano claims “we have waited four months” for Maurizio Sarri’s Juventus to take shape and Leonardo Bonucci can’t help Matthijs de Ligt.

Juve lost 3-1 to Lazio on Sunday and Cassano warns time is running out for the ex-Chelsea and Napoli boss to find his feet at the Allianz Stadium.

“Everyone keeps saying we need to be patient with Sarri, but we have waited four months now,” he told Tiki Taka.

“As soon as they faced a team as strong as Lazio, he lost.”

Chiellini praises 'smart' De Ligt

Giorgio Chiellini has praised “smart” new boy Matthijs de Ligt and urged Juventus to “get used to being courageous” under Maurizio Sarri.

De Ligt has received both praise and criticism in his first few months with Juve, but Chiellini says the former Ajax defender has proved to be a quick learner.

“I talk to him every day, he’s smart, he wants to learn and is doing so quickly,” the 35-year-old told Sky Sport Italia.

“He was only born in 1999 and he has been catapulted into a new way of playing.”
