Simone: 'Milan should get Icardi'

Former centre-forward Marco Simone claims Milan ‘already planned’ to sack Zvonimir Boban, has doubts about Ralf Rangnick’s proposed role and wants to see Mauro Icardi with the Diavolo.

The former sporting director Zvonimir Boban was sacked after a controversial interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport earlier this year, but the 51-year-old Simone has claimed the Milan hierarchy were only waiting for an opportunity.

Milan need patience with Paqueta

Serie A has seen precious little of the talent that made Lucas Paqueta such a big signing for Milan, but Vijay Rahaman warns selling now would be a huge mistake.

In recent times rumours have been rife about the future of Milan player Lucas Paqueta. The Brazilian has been linked with the likes of Benfica, PSG and during the January transfer window, a swap with Juventus with Federico Bernardeschi going the other way was even muted. However, what is really needed by the Rossoneri power brokers is for them to be patient with the playmaker.

Braida: 'Not impossible that Messi leaves'

Former Milan and Barcelona director Afriedo Braida says “it’s not impossible” that Lionel Messi could leave Barcelona.

Rumours have been swirling across Europe that Messi could genuinely leave the Spanish outfit following a very public spat with former teammate Eric Abidal.

Braida, who was a director of sport at both Milan and Barca during his career, believes it isn’t the work of science fiction to imagine Messi playing away from the Camp Nou.

Faggiano: 'Parma thought about Piatek'

Parma’s director of sport Daniele Faggiano confirms the club thought about a move for former Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek in the January transfer window, but “he was out of our price range.”

Piatek left Milan after months of speculation that he was surplus to requirements following the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Pole joined Bundesliga outfit Hertha Berlin for €27m plus bonuses, but Faggiano says the Gialloblu did enquire about signing Piatek.

Piatek: 'Milan change striker each year'

New Hertha Berlin signing Krzysztof Piatek insists Milan “change centre-forward every single year, so it’s probably a habit over there.”

The striker lasted just one year in the Rossoneri jersey, as after his move from Genoa, he struggled to score goals and was sold to Hertha Berlin.

He had been dropped to the bench once Zlatan Ibrahimovic arrived in January and told German newspaper Bild this was not uncommon.

Milan sell Piatek to Hertha Berlin

Milan centre-forward Krzysztof Piatek’s move to Hertha Berlin is done, according to reports from Germany and Italy, for €27m plus bonuses.

Hertha Berlin make Piatek offer

Hertha Berlin have reportedly tabled an offer for Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek, according to Sky Sport Italia.

Piatek has been constantly linked with a move away from San Siro following the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic in December.

Tottenham are interested in signing the Pole, but would like the player to arrive on loan, rather than pay Milan’s €30m asking price.

Pioli pleased by Milan 'desire'

Milan coach Stefano Pioli praised his players for showing “great desire” after the 4-2 win against Torino in extra time. “It was a great match”.

The Granata were 2-1 up until Hakan Calhanoglu equalised in the 91st minute, before the Diavolo kept their momentum to perform a great comeback and book a semi-final date against Juventus in the Coppa Italia.

Hertha Berlin join Piatek chase

Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek has a new offer from Hertha Berlin, claim Sky Sport Italia, pressuring Tottenham Hotspur to improve their bid.

The Poland international arrived from Genoa a year ago for €35m, but has not lived up to expectations and fell down the pecking order with the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and shift to a 4-4-2 formation.

Because the Rossoneri paid so much, they are only prepared to let him go on a permanent basis, or at the very least on loan with an obligation to buy, for €30m.
