Commisso: 'Impossible to build in Italy'

Fiorentina President Rocco Commisso bemoans “mentality problem” in Italy as he touched on the sore topic of building a new stadium in Florence.

The Viola have been through another season in the bottom half of Serie A but the new patron suggested that his work to build a successful team is slowly making progress.

Viola President convinced Chiesa

Daniele Prade has claimed Federico Chiesa has been convinced to stay at Fiorentina by President Rocco Commisso and coach Beppe Iachini.

The winger has been linked with a move away from the Artemio Franchi and the Viola have done all they can to keep the Italy international.

The sporting director Prade has revealed that the starlet has been convinced by the ambition at the club and claimed their investments in January has proved it.

Viola to scrap plans of new stadium?

Fiorentina have announced that they could scrap their plans of building a new stadium after recent revelations about the costs of building at the Mercafir site.

President Rocco Commisso has made no secret of his desire to build a new venue and replace their current home at the Artemio Franchi.

The billionaire received a response from the Mayor and the “public officials” about the Mercafir site in north-eastern Florence, where the patron had expected to build the new Stadio della Fiorentina.

Moratti: 'Impossible to predict derby'

Former Inter President Massimo Moratti has claimed “it’s impossible to predict” the Derby della Madonnina against Milan on Sunday.

The ex-patron admits that Inter are “better on paper” despite conceding that “it won’t be easy” for the Nerazzurri against a Milan side that are on the rise.

Milan are currently eight in Serie A and on an unbeaten run of seven games after the winter break, but Moratti points at the “great potential” of Inter under Antonio Conte.

Gravina: 'Controversy bad for sport'

FIGC President Gabriele Gravina urged Fiorentina, Juventus and all clubs to “avoid stirring up sterile controversy that is not good for football.”

Juve’s 3-0 win over Fiorentina on Sunday sparked several interviews, most of them with Viola President Rocco Commisso, critical of refereeing decisions.

“Football has to rediscover its sense of calm, both in expression and evaluation,” Gravina told reporters at a charity event.
