Franck Ribery was given a spectacular presentation at the Stadio Artemio Franchi. “I knew three weeks ago I’d be coming to Fiorentina.”

The Frenchman signed a two-year contract and was presented to 10,000 fans at the Stadio Franchi in true Hollywood style.

He walked out in darkness to the Rocky theme Eye of the Tiger, did the boxer’s pose at the top of the steps, then under a plume of purple smoke did keepy-uppies before kicking seven balls into the crowd.

Badelj comeback feels right

Milan Badelj is returning to Fiorentina just a year after his free transfer to Lazio, but Steven Moore believes it’s best for all concerned.

Marginally missing out on a top four spot in the 2017-18 Serie A season, Lazio were eager to make their goal of Champions League football become reality the following year. To ensure their success, the Biancocelesti invested heavily, making several acquisitions in the summer transfer window to reinforce their squad. One of those new additions, Milan Badelj, seemed an outstanding move by management.

'More on Fiorentina stadium shortly'

Mayor Dario Nardella has assured that plans for a new Fiorentina stadium will be finalised ‘shortly’.

However, the arrival of new owner Rocco Commisso has brought about optimism, both on and off the field.

“Everything that needs deciding will be decided together, period,” Nardiella told Corriere dello Sport.

Viola desperately seeking strikers

Fiorentina were the home of Gabriel Batistuta and Luca Toni, so Giancarlo Rinaldi finds their current crop of forwards a painful sight.

The glorious chanting at the arrival of new owner Rocco Commisso in Florence is already in danger of being drowned out by the grumbles about a lack of significant acquisitions. Whatever happened to for better, for worse?
