Official: Milan extend Pioli to 2022

Milan confirmed they will not hire Ralf Rangnick and are extending Stefano Pioli’s contract to 2022. 'This is not a decision based on recent victories, but one based on how Stefano has built team spirit and unity of purpose.'

“AC Milan announce that an agreement has been reached with Stefano Pioli for a two-year extension of his contract as coach of the first team, which will therefore now expire in June 2022.”

Ibra: 'If I wanted old Milan...'

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has revealed that he could join Monza if he wanted the old Milan. ‘Adriano Galliani called me and said they were 11km away.‘

Galliani brought Ibrahimovic to Milan back in the summer of 2010 and, whereas the striker has since returned to San Siro, the CEO is now at nearby Monza with Silvio Berlusconi. 

“Galliani called me and said: ‘You said this isn’t your AC Milan. Your old AC Milan are 11km away from Milan’,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

Ibrahimovic: 'I'm not playing for a contract'

Milan forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic insists he’s ‘not playing for a contract’ and claims ‘everything has changed’ at the club. ‘The targets are no longer what they used to be’.

In the snippet of an interview the veteran gave La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ibra claimed he was ‘practically playing for free’ and said it’s ‘unlikely he will stay’ if nothing changes.

Ibrahimovic: 'If this is Milan, I won't stay'

Zlatan Ibrahimovic confirms his confrontation with CEO Ivan Gazidis. ‘If this is the situation, it’s unlikely you’ll see me at Milan next season. I am practically playing for free.’

In a snippet of the full interview Ibra gave to La Gazzetta dello Sport magazine Sportweek, which is released on Saturday, the Swede tore down the club’s current chiefs.

“Ibra plays to win something or he stays at home,” he replied when asked about his future.

Scaroni: 'Complete confidence in Gazidis'

Paolo Scaroni has reaffirmed his ‘complete confidence’ in Ivan Gazidis and revealed that Milan have lost ‘about €30m’ during the coronavirus pandemic.

Milan beat Juventus 4-2 the other night and Scaroni had praise for coach Stefano Pioli, even if Gazidis is ‘right to explore new horizons’, amidst talk of Ralf Rangnick coming in.

“It was a memorable game, one we’ll remember for years to come,” the club’s President told Corriere della Sera.

Milan CEO Ivan Gazidis wants to offer Paolo Maldini a change of role in Via Aldo Rossi, but the current technical director seems set to reject the proposal.

Tuttosport claims Gazidis looks for a possibility to keep Maldini at Milanello despite the arrival of Ralf Rangnick, who is set to take over at San Siro next term.

The former RB Leizpig coach will step into a managerial role, combining the technical director job with the coaching part.

Maldini was promoted to technical director last summer, but his powers are about to be absorbed by Red Bull chief Ralf Rangnick.
