Lecce have announced that they will appeal Gianluca Lapadula’s two-match ban for his attempted headbutt on Cagliari’s Robin Olsen.

Lecce President: 'Olsen play-acting!'

Lecce President Saverio Sticchi Damiani criticised apologetic Cagliari goalkeeper Robin Olsen for being the “protagonist of incredible play-acting.”

Liverani: 'Only Lecce played football!'

Lecce boss Fabio Liverani believes only his side tried to “play football” in the 2-2 draw with Cagliari.

Lecce came back from 2-0 down to salvage a draw at the Via del Mare in Monday’s rearranged fixture, and Liverani criticised Cagliari’s approach to the game.

“Today we played football, creating 10 chances, whilst our goalkeeper didn’t even make half a save,” he said afterwards.

Petrachi: 'Absurd disallowed goal!'

Roma director of sport Gianluca Petrachi was furious with the referee after a last-gasp goal against Cagliari was disallowed. “It’s absurd! In England, they’ll laugh at us.”

The game ended 1-1, but in stoppages Nikola Kalinic bundled the ball over the line after he had pushed Fabio Pisacane into goalkeeper Robin Olsen.

The referee disallowed the goal on the spot, but Roma didn’t realise this until after Pisacane had been stretchered off with a neck-brace.
