Theo Hernandez: 'At Milan for the long haul'

Theo Hernandez assures he is at Milan ‘for a long time’ after the ‘best year of my career,’ learning from leaders like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paolo Maldini and coach Stefano Pioli.

The Derby della Madonnina is a week away, assuming of course that it goes ahead, considering COVID-19 cases are growing at both San Siro clubs.

It is a top of the table showdown, with the Rossoneri enjoying a 100 per cent record and Inter on seven points from three rounds, but Milan haven’t beaten their city rivals in Serie A since January 2016.

Hernandez: 'Milan move an easy decision'

Theo Hernandez admitted he didn’t have to think twice about moving to Milan and said it’s ‘incredible’ to work with former hero Paolo Maldini.

The Milan left-back started the new season with an assist in the 2-0 win against Bologna on Monday and continues to impress since his €20m move from Real Madrid in July 2019.

The 22-year-old had only played 13 games in La Liga with Los Blancos but had gained experience during spells on loan with Deportivo Alaves and Real Sociedad in the Spanish top tier.

The creative midfielder arrived on loan from Real Madrid, although an option to buy will probably be discussed along with a counter-option later in the season.

“My first impressions of being a Milan player are very positive. You can really tell what kind of club AC Milan is,” the 21-year-old told the official Rossoneri website.

Touchline ban for Gasperini
