Calabria: 'Milan didn't have winning project'

Davide Calabria admits the team is relieved to continue working with coach Stefano Pioli. ‘There hasn’t really been a winning project at Milan’ for several years.

The 23-year-old has spent his entire career with the Rossoneri, coming up through their youth academy to become a regular, especially as Andrea Conti is still out injured.

His form has improved a great deal recently too under coach Stefano Pioli and Calabria believes there’s a good reason for their performances in recent months.

Tonali: 'Zlatan an idol and example'

Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali said his ‘dream has become reality’ and the youngster will use veteran Zlatan Ibrahimovic ‘as an example’ to follow.

Tonali made his Serie A debut in the Rossoneri jersey for the final 13 minutes of the 2-0 win against Bologna on Monday.

“Now the dream has become reality but in a few days there’s another match and we are focused on doing well,” Tonali said.

Pioli: 'Pressure is a privilege'

Stefano Pioli aims to improve Milan’s position in Serie A this term and hopes to start by turning a negative trend in the opening matches in recent years.

The coach was met by the press on Sunday and was asked if Milan were a Scudetto contender in 2020-21.

“I don’t know, it’s difficult to answer these questions,” Pioli said at a press conference. “We must always show that we are an ambitious team, we must give our all.

Tonali and Diaz included in Milan's Europa League squad

Milan have updated the registered list for the Europa League ahead of Thursday’s match against Shamrock Rovers, including Ciprian Tatarusanu, Sandro Tonali and Brahim Diaz.

The three new players will be available for Milan’s first match in 2020-21, when they travel to Ireland this week for the second qualifying round of the Europa League.

Ante Rebic has been included in the squad to serve his three-match suspension, a ban he carries with him from his time with Eintracht Frankfurt in the competition.

Maldini: 'Milan changed course on Tonali'

Paolo Maldini thanks Milan owners for ‘changing course’ on Sandro Tonali and the overall transfer strategy, but ‘there are no negotiations with Fiorentina for Federico Chiesa.’

Former Brescia midfielder Tonali was presented to the media today after his arrival on loan for €10m with option to buy for €15m plus another €10m in bonuses.

“He is very young and has made his dream come true of wearing the Milan jersey,” director Maldini told Sky Sport Italia of the former Inter target.

Tonali: 'I had to go to Milan'

Sandro Tonali admits he ‘closed all the other doors, as I had to go to Milan’ and follow the footsteps of idols Gennaro Gattuso, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paolo Maldini.

The 20-year-old had been on the verge of joining their arch-rivals Inter, but as soon as the Rossoneri stepped forward to match the offer, he jumped at the chance.

“More or less everyone supports Milan where I’m from, including my father, who passed that passion on to me as a kid,” revealed Tonali in his press conference.

Milan triumphed in final test against Brescia

Franck Kessie, Lorenzo Colombo and Samu Castillejo scored the goals when Milan convinced with a 3-1 win against Brescia in their last friendly before the Europa League match against Shamrock Rovers.

Stefano Pioli’s men faced Luigi Delnieri’s Brescia at Milanello, when Sandro Tonali came off the bench and played the last 17 minutes against his former club.

The Rossoneri have won their four friendlies against Novara, Monza, Vicenza and now Brescia, before the first official match of the new season on Thursday.

Tonali: 'My Milan dreams have come true'

Sandro Tonali’s ‘dream has come true’ of wearing idol Gennaro Gattuso’s Number 8 Milan jersey and working with club legend Paolo Maldini.

The 20-year-old completed his transfer from Brescia last night, on loan for €10m with option to buy for a further €15m, plus €10m in bonuses and a cut of any future sale.

“My dream has come true,” the lifelong Rossoneri fan told Milan TV as he toured the trophy room.
