De La: 'I had no symptoms'

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis, who has tested positive for COVID-19, insists he ‘had no symptoms’ prior to the Lega Serie A Assembly.

The Partenopei announced on Thursday that the patron had tested positive for coronavirus and he was accused of having put the others unnecessarily at risk.

Official: Cagliari sign Fiorentina's Sottil

Cagliari have officially signed Riccardo Sottil from Fiorentina, on loan with option to buy and counter-option.

He arrived this morning for his medical and signed the contract this evening.

It’s reported the option to buy will be worth €11m next summer.

The 21-year-old attacking winger plays primarily on the left, but can also work on the right of a trident.

Sottil spent the second half of last season in Serie B with Pescara.

Official: Bonaventura joins Fiorentina

Giacomo Bonaventura has officially signed for Fiorentina as a free agent after six years with Milan.

His contract with the Rossoneri was allowed to expire this summer and he put pen to paper on a two-year deal in Florence.

The 31-year-old passed a medical earlier this week and can now begin training with his new teammates.

Bonaventura, nicknamed Jack, started out in the Atalanta youth academy, moving to Milan for €5.3m in the final minutes of the 2014 summer transfer window.

Fiorentina: 'Not interested in Torreira'

Fiorentina announced they are not interested in Lucas Torreira, meaning Torino can avoid a bidding war for the Arsenal midfielder.

It was reported yesterday that the two Serie A sides were going head-to-head for the former Sampdoria player, which would’ve pushed the price-tag up further.

However, today Viola director Daniele Pradè assured they were not in the running.

Fiorentina release Agudelo for Spezia

Fiorentina are set to release Kevin Agudelo back to Genoa, who can then loan him out to newly-promoted Spezia.

The move was confirmed in a press conference this morning by Viola director of sport Daniele Pradè.

“It could be completed by the end of the day.”

Agudelo is a 21-year-old Colombian creative midfielder who joined Genoa from Atletico Huila last summer for €2.5m.

He was loaned to Fiorentina in January, with option to buy for €12m, but made only one start and two very brief substitute appearances.

De Laurentiis did not follow COVID protocol

Controversy is growing after Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis tested positive for COVID-19, dined with other club patrons and did not self-isolate despite having symptoms.

La Repubblica reported late last night that one of the representatives of the 20 clubs at the Lega Serie A meeting on Wednesday had tested positive for COVID-19.

Napoli released a brief statement this morning confirming President De Laurentiis was positive for the Coronavirus.

Benassi towards Verona, replaced by Borja Valero

Fiorentina midfielder Marco Benassi is reportedly close to Hellas Verona, where he’ll be replaced by free agent and returning hero Borja Valero.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Borja Valero has accepted a proposal to sign on for a one-year contract at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

It is a comeback for the ‘Mayor of Florence’, who spent five seasons here before his three-year spell at Inter.

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has tested positive for COVID-19, but it’s reported he attended the Lega Serie A meeting yesterday despite having symptoms.

There were rumours last night that one of the Presidents or directors who attended the 20-club meeting in Milan had tested positive.

It was announced this morning via the club statement that it was Napoli President De Laurentiis.

Report: COVID at Lega Serie A meeting

La Repubblica claim one of the Serie A representatives attending Wednesday’s 20-club Lega meeting has tested positive for COVID-19.

If true, that would spark a domino effect requiring all those who attended to have tests and potentially go into precautionary self-isolation.

Just 10 days before the start of the season, that’d have a very damaging effect on the way the league is run, not to mention the transfer negotiations that are currently in full swing.
