Paqueta: 'Milan seeing the real me'

Lucas Paqueta assures Milan fans are finally getting to see ‘the real me’ in a trequartista role. ‘I’m getting my confidence back and it makes all the difference.’

The midfielder turns 23 next month and was signed from Flamengo for almost €39m plus bonuses in January 2019, but has struggled to deliver on his promise.

He was repeatedly linked with a move away in January and again this summer, with Fiorentina particularly interested.

“This is the real me, this is Paqueta,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

Pioli: 'Milan too hasty in front of goal'

Stefano Pioli feels Milan were ‘too hasty in the final third’ after SPAL went down to 10 men, only scraping a last-gasp equaliser with an own goal.

Mattia Valoti had turned in after a corner and Sergio Floccari scored a stunner from distance, but despite dominating the game against 10 men for an hour, it took a stoppage-time own goal to get a point after Rafael Leao’s effort.

Paqueta-Milenkovic swap?

Milan are, according to Tuttosport, contemplating offering Lucas Paqueta to get Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic.

The Viola defender has impressed at the Artemio Franchi and rivals are following his situation in Florence.

The 22-year-old has played 25 games in Serie A this term, contributing three goals in the process, and his value has increased significantly since his €5m move from FK Partizan in July 2017.

Milan can't help self-destructing

Negativity never seems to be too far away from Milan and the build-up to their Coppa Italia semi-final with Juventus is no different, writes Vijay Rahaman.

Calcio is back, as after three months of lockdown, we pick up from the Coppa Italia semi-final. The first leg all the way back in February ended 1-1 at San Siro, but Milan have a mountain to climb if they are to get the result they need without suspended Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Theo Hernandez and Samu Castillejo.

Higuain doubt, Paqueta ready

Gonzalo Higuain is a major doubt to feature for Juventus in the Coppa Italia semi-final, as they go for a trident, while Milan lean towards Lucas Paqueta and Ante Rebic.

The first leg ended 1-1 at San Siro and the decider will be at the Allianz Juventus Stadium on June 12.

Higuain again did not take part in training today, so although tests ruled out a thigh strain, he is still increasingly unlikely to play next week.

Aaron Ramsey worked separately from the group, but RAI Sport believe he will be ready to at least come off the bench.

Fiorentina and Benfica call Paqueta

Fiorentina and Benfica are eager to give Milan flop Lucas Paqueta a new adventure, but would prefer it to be a loan with option to buy.

The Brazilian turns 23 in August and has struggled to make an impact since his €39m plus bonuses move from Flamengo in January 2019.

A summer exit is likely, but the Rossoneri want to get back most if not all of the money spent on the player.

According to Tuttosport, Sky Sport Italia and more, Fiorentina are asking to have Paqueta on a two-year loan with option to buy in 2022.

Report: Paqueta rejects Fiorentina

Milan midfielder Lucas Paqueta is reportedly against the idea of joining Fiorentina as he is holding out for a bigger club.

Paqueta is understood to be Fiorentina’s preferred target for the middle of the park this summer.

However, Tuttomercatoweb warns he is unconvinced by the move, instead favouring a ‘high-level challenge’ elsewhere.

The website explains that could lie in Spain or Portugal, with Valencia and Benfica both showing an interest.

Paqueta Fiorentina's first choice?

Milan’s Lucas Paqueta is reportedly top of Fiorentina’s midfield wishlist for next season.

Fiorentina have been linked with Paqueta for several months, and La Repubblica is now claiming he is their No 1 target for the middle of the park.

The Brazilian was a €35m purchase from Flamengo in January 2019 and still has three years left on his contract.

However, he has seen just 834 minutes of game time for Milan this season, providing only one assist.

Paqueta plus cash for Florentino?

Benfica are prepared to take Lucas Paqueta in an exchange with Florentino Luis, claim reports, but only with an additional €15m cash sum.

Paqueta is not part of the Rossoneri’s plans and has disappointed since his €38m move from Flamengo in January 2019.

Fiorentina have also shown interest, but would want the Brazilian on a two-season loan rather than an outright purchase.

According to Calciomercato.com, Benfica are eager to snap up the 22-year-old in an exchange deal with long-term Milan target Florentino.
