Juventus have started scouting Porto left back Wendell as sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli looks to bolster Massimiliano Allegri’s backline.

The Bianconeri’s full back department is in a strange state heading into the summer transfer window. Filip Kostic and Timothy Weah have both disappointed this term, Alex Sandro is set to leave on a free transfer and Andrea Cambiaso could even be sold, leaving the situation delicate.

Juventus director Giuntoli is now hard at work planning ahead of the summer, trying to find the right low-cost reinforcements to bolster the squad. The club’s new sustainable direction limits how much they can spend, forcing them to be smart with their investments.

Page 10 of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport details how Giuntoli sent a Juventus scout to follow Wendell during Brazil’s recent friendly with England at Wembley, where the 30-year-old made his debut for the Selecao.

Wendell, who earns around €1m net per season, has less than 18 months left on his contract with Porto, making him a low-cost option for the Bianconeri.

Other players in Giuntoli’s notebook ahead of the summer include Atletico Madrid’s Reinildo Mandava and VfB Stuttgart’s Maximilian Mittelstadt.
