Prandelli: Good luck Antonio!

Former Italy Coach Cesare Prandelli has wished successor Antonio Conte the best of luck as Azzurri boss.

The former Fiorentina Coach stepped down from the Nazionale hotseat following their poor showing at this summer’s World Cup.

Official: Conte hired as Italy Coach

The FIGC have confirmed that Antonio Conte has been hired as the new Coach of Italy on a two-year contract.

It had been widely reported this afternoon and evening that the former Juventus boss had agreed terms to take over from Cesare Prandelli, and now Italian football’s governing body have made the news official.

Fiorentina captain Manuel Pasqual has described his relationship with Cesare Prandelli as a rollercoaster.

The defender played under the now Galatasaray boss for both the Viola and the Italian national team.

Zoff: Conte will make Azzurri compete

Dino Zoff has backed Antonio Conte to make Italy a competitive international team once again very soon.

Conte is set to succeed Cesare Prandelli, who resigned as Azzurri boss after this summer’s World Cup, on a two-year contract.

“I had him as a player and even then you could see his capabilities,” Zoff said of the new CT, whom he coached at both Juventus and the Azzurri.

Conte signs two-year Azzurri deal?

Reports in the Italian media claim Antonio Conte has signed a contract to become Italy’s new Coach on a two-year deal.

The former Juventus boss has been the favourite to succeed Cesare Prandelli ever since his shock resignation from the Old Lady earlier in the summer.

Italy stay 14th in world

The latest FIFA World Rankings are out for August and in a largely unchanged top 20, Italy remain in 14th position.

The Azzurri’s disastrous World Cup campaign in Brazil this summer saw them drop to a four-year low ranking in July’s listings.

With little international activity in the last month, the top 20 nations in August’s FIFA Rankings remain largely untouched, with the Azzurri holding on to 14th place.

Giuseppe Rossi has backed Antonio Conte as Italy’s next Coach, but says he has nothing to prove regarding his fitness.

The Fiorentina striker missed out on a place at the World Cup under Cesare Prandelli, with the CT implying that he was not ready for the tournament following a return from a knee injury.

For the 27-year-old, his summer since has been about moving on from the falling out.

Carlo Ancelotti has ruled himself out of being the new Italy Coach but is sure there will be time for him to do the job in the future.

The Real Madrid Coach, who led his current side to the Champions League and Copa Del Rey in his first year at the Bernabeu, also declined to comment on who he thought would be Cesare Prandelli’s successor.
