Prandelli's Euro 2012 plans

Cesare Prandelli is already making plans for Euro 2012, as “a lot will depend on how the first game goes against Spain.”

The Azzurri have been put in the same group as the Republic of Ireland and Croatia, while their opening match is against the reigning World and European champions on June 10.

Italy to learn Euro 2012 fate

Italy and the 15 other qualifiers will find out the identity of their Euro 2012 group opponents later today when the draw takes place in Kiev.

The Ukraine ceremony will kick off at 17.00 UK time where UEFA will split the 16 nations into four groups of four.

Given that co-hosts Poland and the Ukraine have been named as top seeds, Italy find themselves in pot two along with Germany, England and Russia.

Prandelli happy to draw Spain

Cesare Prandelli has welcomed the prospect of facing any of the qualified teams at next summer’s European Championships. Even Spain.

The draw for next summer’s tournament co-hosted by Poland and Ukraine is scheduled to take place in Kiev from 17.00pm UK time on Friday, with Italy seeded in Pot 2 alongside Germany, England and Russia.

Prandelli observing Di Natale

Italy Coach Cesare Prandelli reveals “Antonio Di Natale is under consideration” for an Azzurri place.

The Udinese veteran has won the Capocannoniere title twice in a row and is back on top of the scorers’ charts with nine goals this season, but has rarely featured for Italy since Prandelli took over.

“I did watch Udinese-Roma last night,” confessed Prandelli during a charity event.

“Di Natale is a player I am keeping under consideration.”

Prandelli: 'Undeserved defeat'

Cesare Prandelli felt it was “absolutely an unfair result” after the Azzurri were beaten by Uruguay in Rome.

“It’s absolutely an unfair result, albeit against a very strong side, but I think we played a good game,” said the Coach of the 1-0 defeat.

It was an uphill struggle from the start, as Sebastian Fernandez scored in the opening three minutes.

Italy name side to face Uruguay

Italy will start with a front two of Mario Balotelli and Pablo Daniel Osvaldo in Tuesday’s international friendly against Uruguay.
