Frey: Lucky to be alive

Former Fiorentina and Parma goalkeeper Sebastien Frey says he is lucky to be alive after recovering from a virus that ‘disabled me completely’.

Frey is an avid Instagram user with over 1,000 posts, but the Frenchman had gone quiet for several weeks and he has now explained his absence.

“Good morning everyone!” read a note he uploaded on the site.

“As you may have noticed, I’ve been absent from social media for a while... for a more than valid reason, and I want to explain it to you.

Serie A Week 28 referees

The referees for Serie A Week 28 are announced as Marco Guida is handed the Derby della Madonnina between Milan and Inter on Sunday.

Guida is no stranger to big games, having officiated the Milan derby earlier in the season – which Inter won 1-0 – as well as December’s Derby della Mole between Juventus and Torino.

Elsewhere, Marco Di Bello will run the rule over Juventus’ trip to Genoa and Paolo Valeri will oversee Lazio’s visit of Parma.

Newcastle keen on Italian pair

Roma starlet Nicolo Zaniolo has emerged as a shock target for Newcastle United, who are also reportedly keen on Parma striker Roberto Inglese.

The Evening Chronicle cites sources from Italy, which claim Newcastle scouts have been watching Zaniolo this season.

The Magpies are no stranger to Serie A imports, with the likes of Faustino Asprilla and Davide Santon having played for the club over the years.

Prandelli: 'It wasn't a corner'

Cesare Prandelli confirmed Genoa were “very angry” at the defeat to Parma, because the goal came from a non-existent corner.

The decisive moment occurred 12 minutes from time at the Stadio Tardini, when Juraj Kucka eventually bundled over the line after the woodwork was rattled twice.

However, the corner should not have been given, as it took a double ricochet off Roberto Inglese.
