United keen on Juve pair?

Manchester United are reportedly pressing for Juventus winger Douglas Costa and have made enquiries for Merih Demiral.

A deal between Juve and United seemed to have hinged on who the Red Devils would accept in return for Paul Pogba.

However, Tuttosport is now claiming they are pushing hard for Costa’s signature.

Although Paris Saint-Germain are also showing interest, the newspaper explains the English giants would have the upper hand if Max Allegri became coach of the Ligue 1 champions.

Report: Demiral steps up recovery

Juventus defender Merih Demiral could gradually return to the pitch, as the Turkey international steps up his recovery at Continassa.

Tuttomercatoweb claims the centre-back has resumed training with the ball and provided another positive sign in his path to recover from a serious ACL injury.

Having scored the opening goal in a 2-1 win against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico, Demiral landed heavily after jumping for a header and had to go off.

Demiral back in Juventus training

Turkey international Merih Demiral has resumed training with Juventus for the first time since his knee injury in January.

The defender ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament on January 12 and was expected to miss the rest of the season.

As that was interrupted for two months by the coronavirus pandemic, he has found himself back in the running to conclude the campaign.

“Individual training programs continued for the Juventus Players,” read a club statement.

Report: Juve press for Arthur

Juventus are reportedly rivalling Inter and Tottenham Hotspur for Barcelona midfielder Arthur.

Arthur has been linked with Inter and Spurs as a possible makeweight in deals to take Lautaro Martinez and Tanguy Ndombele to Camp Nou.

However, Mundo Deportivo claims Juve will ‘do everything possible’ to convince the Brazilian into a transfer.

The newspaper explains how he could be tempted by Maurizio Sarri’s passing philosophy and the prospect of only being taxed 30 percent.

Benatia predicts great future for young duo

Former Juventus defender Medhi Benatia has praised both Merih Demiral and Matthijs de Ligt, predicting a great future for the defensive duo at the Allianz Stadium.

The Dutch starlet arrived at the Allianz Stadium last summer and has played 20 games in Serie A after replacing an injured Giorgio Chiellini in the defence.

“De Ligt has everything it takes to stay ten years in Turin,” Benatia told Tuttosport. “He is one of the best around and, since he arrived in Turin, he has developed in training next to many great champions.

Injured defender Merih Demiral has revealed that he will continue to work at home after Juventus decided to take “precautionary” measures.

Juventus announced last night that 121 people will spend two weeks in self-isolation and as Cristiano Ronaldo immediately travelled to stay with his mother in Portugal, he will remain there for the duration of the quarantine, in constant contact with the medical staff at the Bianconeri.

Demiral reassured by Juventus?

Juventus are reportedly easing the pressure on Merih Demiral by looking to tie him to a new deal this summer, but his recovery comes first.

The defender had stepped up when the Bianconeri needed it the most and cut a promising figure in the heart of the defence.

He basically replaced Matthijs de Ligt and partnered Leonardo Bonucci until he injured his ACL during a 2-1 win against Roma and was ruled out for the rest of the season.

Chiellini back in Champions squad

Juventus have named their squad list for the Champions League knockout phase, including Giorgio Chiellini.

The Bianconeri will face Olympique Lyonnais in the Round of 16, with the first leg on February 26.

Emre Can had been left out of the original list, which prompted his January exit to Borussia Dortmund.

Merih Demiral has now been removed, as he is out injured for the rest of the season, but Chiellini takes his place, hoping to recover from ACL surgery next month.

Paratici: 'Juve don't need defenders'

Juventus director Fabio Paratici assures they “don’t need” any replacements for injured Merih Demiral, as Giorgio Chiellini will be back soon.

Turkey international Demiral had made a strong impact recently, pushing Matthijs de Ligt on to the bench for six games in a row, even scoring his first goal in the 2-1 win at Roma.

However, he suffered a serious knee injury during that game and has been ruled out for six-seven months following ACL and meniscus surgery.
