Lafferty 'delighted' to join Reggina

Kyle Lafferty says he is ‘absolutely delighted’ to join Reggina as he ‘always wanted to come back to Italy. I’ll do everything to get this team into Serie A’.

Lafferty was unveiled as a Reggina player for the first time yesterday, having signed a two-year contract with the Serie B new boys.

The Northern Ireland striker helped Palermo win promotion to the top tier in 2013-14, and he is ready to repeat that achievement in Calabria.

Official: Reggina sign Lafferty

Serie B new boys Reggina have announced the signing of former Palermo striker and Northern Ireland international Kyle Lafferty.

As per Reggina’s official website, Lafferty has put pen to paper on a two-year contract after passing a medical.

The 32-year-old is vastly experienced, having played for the likes of Burnley, Rangers, Sion, Norwich City and most recently Sunderland.

To Italian audiences, he is best known for his 2013-14 campaign with Palermo, when he scored 12 goals to help them win promotion to Serie A.

Official: Lafferty to join Reggina

Serie B side Reggina have announced that Northern Ireland international Kyle Lafferty will have his medical and sign for the club tomorrow.

The centre-forward turns 33 in September and is a free agent after his contract with Sunderland expired.

A statement released by Reggina confirms Lafferty will arrive in Reggio Calabria today, have his medical tomorrow and then sign the contract.

He’ll be presented to the media on Saturday at the Stadio Oreste Granillo.

Northern Ireland striker Kyle Lafferty is reportedly on the verge of a return to Serie B with newly-promoted Reggina.

According to Sportitalia, negotiations are destined for a successful outcome, with Lafferty sold by the ambitious offer on offer at Reggina.

The 32-year-old is available on a free transfer after leaving English side Sunderland.

Menez: 'I'd lost passion for football'

Jeremy Menez admits he had ‘lost my passion for football,’ but rediscovered it with a move to newly-promoted Serie B side Reggina.

The 33-year-old former Roma and Milan attacking winger had played in Italy, France, Turkey and Mexico in recent years, but signed a surprise two-year deal with Reggina just weeks after their promotion from Serie C.

“I am here to win the Serie B title and take Reggina into Serie A,” said Menez in his presentation press conference today.

Official: Menez signs for Reggina

It is now official, Jeremy Menez returns to Italy after agreeing a three-year contract with newly-promoted Serie B side Reggina.

The decision had already been in the air after he terminated his deal early with Ligue 2 side Paris FC, and had been in negotiations over personal terms.

“I can now confirm that Jeremy Menez is a Reggina player, we have agreed a three-year contract,” announced President Luca Gallo in his press conference.

Serie B: Reggina call Zarate too

Reggina are celebrating promotion into Serie B with German Denis and soon Jeremy Menez, but could also try to sign Mauro Zarate.

The club from Reggio-Calabria will be in Serie B for the 2020-21 season after winning their Serie C group.

They already have former Napoli and Atalanta striker ‘Tanque’ Denis in their squad, while ex-Roma and Milan attacking winger Menez is working out the final details of his contract.

Now TMW report another familiar face to Serie A is on their radar, as an offer has been made to Zarate.

Reggina confirm Menez talks

Reggina director Massimo Taibi confirms the newly-promoted Serie B side are ‘at an advanced stage’ in talks to sign Jeremy Menez.

It would be a return to Italy for the former Milan and Roma winger, who had until recently been in the French second division with Paris FC.

“We are at an advanced stage in the talks for Menez, but haven’t finalised anything yet,” former goalkeeper Taibi told reporters.

“I am working on it and feeling confident.”

Menez flying in for Reggina

Former Milan and Roma winger Jeremy Menez is flying in to sign a contract with newly-promoted Serie B side Reggina.

The Calabrian club secured promotion into Serie B for the 2020-21 season after topping their regional Serie C group.

In turn, Menez terminated his contract with Paris FC earlier this month, the divorce by mutual consent.

He posted an Instagram image of himself on a plane with the message: ‘Sud j’arrive’ (South, I’m on my way).

Official: Serie C stops here

The regular Serie C season has ended with Vicenza, Reggina and Silvio Berlusconi’s Monza promoted and Gozzano, Rimini and Rieti relegated.

The decision was made official at today’s Federal Council, where it was also confirmed Serie A would be decided by playoffs and playoffs or an algorithm if the season stopped again.

Consequently, Monza, Vicenza and Reggina – leaders of the three Serie C groups – will go into the second tier.
