Dortmund v Man Utd for Mandzukic

Borussia Dortmund are not giving up on Mario Mandzukic and will challenge Manchester United for the Juventus striker, claims German newspaper Kicker.

Mandzukic has been ostracised by the club this season, after it was made clear to the 33-year old that he had no future role under Maurizio Sarri.

He was left out of Juve's Champions League squad and hasn't kicked a ball in 2018-19.

Manchester United have been perpetually linked to the Croatian, but now Dortmund have seemingly re-entered the fray, after trying to sign him in the summer.

Conte: 'Inter response I wanted'

Antonio Conte saw “an important response” to Inter’s Champions League defeat, as they fought back to beat Verona. “We’re going beyond the rosiest expectations.”

The Nerazzurri threw away a 2-0 lead away to Borussia Dortmund midweek to lose 3-2, but in Serie A managed to turn around a Valerio Verre penalty to beat Hellas Verona 2-1 at San Siro.

Conte: 'Rant not a criticism'

Inter boss Antonio Conte insists his post-Borussia Dortmund rant was “simply a constructive address. I have faith in my players.”

Conte appeared to turn on his board after Inter’s 3-2 defeat to Dortmund in the Champions League midweek, accusing them of planning for the season poorly.

However, he clarified at his Verona Press conference: “It wasn’t a post-match rant but simply a constructive address.

The Roman Syndrome

Roma and Lazio’s Europa League defeats show that both clubs suffer from the same basic problem, writes Vilizar Yakimov.

Another week, another Europa League fiasco for the Serie A sides. The two almost identical defeats that Roma and Lazio suffered put the qualification of the two Capital clubs at serious risk with two games left.

It wouldn’t be harsh to say that Simone Inzaghi’s men need a miracle at this point, as they are now six points off second-placed Cluj, while Celtic’s triumph at the Olimpico puts Neil Lennon’s men out of reach. Odds in the USA - and everywhere else - are strongly against Lazio now.

Inter: Month out for Politano

Matteo Politano faces around a month out after the Inter winger suffered an ankle injury.

Politano broke down as a substitute during Inter’s 3-2 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Now, a medical report on the club’s official website has confirmed “a sprain in his left ankle” and that he will need attention for “the next few weeks”.

'Dortmund wanted it more than Inter'

Borussia Dortmund boss Lucien Favre believes his team’s desire to “win at all costs” inspired their comeback in the 3-2 win against Inter.

A brace from full-back Achraf Hakimi either side of a Julian Brandt goal instigated the 3-2 Dortmund victory at Signal Iduna Park, and Favre was full of praise after a classic night of Champions League football.

“He is very offensive, he is always attacking despite being a full-back,” the coach said of Hakimi after the game.

A tale of two Inters

It was the best of Inters. It was the worst of Inters. Giancarlo Rinaldi saw all sides of the Nerazzurri in their 3-2 defeat at Borussia Dortmund.

If it turns out to have been what many thought it could be before kick-off - a qualification play-off - then what a game it was. For 45 minutes, we purred about an almost perfect Inter that showed it knew how to suffer while being beautifully clinical when chances came. And, when it all unraveled in the face of an unrelenting yellow-and-black tide, it felt like an object lesson in how far the Nerazzurri have come - but also how far they still have to go.

Conte: 'Inter players have won nothing'

Antonio Conte continued his rant against Inter’s transfer strategy after defeat in Dortmund. “Apart from Diego Godin, these players haven’t won anything and lack experience.”

The Nerazzurri were leading 2-0 at half-time only to fall 3-2 in the Champions League trip to Borussia Dortmund.

Conte: 'Inter mistakes in planning'

Antonio Conte was both disappointed and furious after a 3-2 defeat at Borussia Dortmund. “Big mistakes were made in planning this season. I am fed up of saying it.”

Just like with Barcelona, the Nerazzurri dominated the first half and had a comfortable lead only to fall apart entirely after the break.

Lautaro: 'This cannot happen'

Lautaro Martinez was visibly upset after a 3-2 defeat to Borussia Dortmund. “Inter were a completely different team after the break. This cannot happen.”

The Argentine is the first Inter player to score in three consecutive Champions League games since Samuel Eto’o reached four in 2010.

He had opened the scoring, followed by a Matias Vecino goal, but the 2-0 lead at half-time made little difference.
