Emre Can: 'I left because of Sarri'

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Emre Can has revealed why he left Juventus in the January transfer window. “Maurizio Sarri told me in a 20-second phone call that I wasn’t on the Champions League list.”

The German international had played an integral part in his first season in Turin, making 37 appearances in all competitions.

However Can’s problems started whem Maurizio Sarri took over from Max Allegri last summer.

Juve target new striker

Juventus are weighing up a summer move for either Gabriel Jesus, Timo Werner or Mauro Icardi as a replacement for Gonzalo Higuain next season, according to Tuttosport.

The Turin daily speculates that the Italian champions are seeking a striker under the age of 30 for next season, and have identified one of Icardi, Werner or Jesus as a realistic target to replace Higuain.

The Argentine striker is 32-years-old, and his contract expires at the end of next season.

Emre Can: 'Wanted to be important'

Emre Can has revealed that he rejected Manchester United, left Juventus because of his “mentality” and chose Borussia Dortmund to be “important”.

After 45 games, contributing four goals for the Bianconeri, the 26-year-old ended his stint in Turin after only one and a half season.

The former Liverpool and Juventus midfielder moved back to Germany this winter and has revealed why he chose to move away from the Allianz Stadium.

Nela: 'Roma turned Haaland down'

Roma “were offered the chance to sign Erling Haaland for €4m two years ago and turned him down,” reveals director Sebino Nela.

Haaland shot to fame at RB Salzburg and earned a €20m plus numerous bonuses transfer to Borussia Dortmund in January.

He is shattering records this season, scoring 39 goals in 29 games for the two clubs, including 10 in just seven Champions League outings.

CL: Dortmund and Atleti win first legs

Borussia Dortmund beat PSG 2-1 with an Erling Haaland brace, while Atletico Madrid’s early Saul Niguez tap-in proved enough to defeat Liverpool 1-0.

The first legs of the Champions League Round of 16 were played this evening with two home wins.

Saul Niguez reacted quicker than anyone when a Koke corner bounced off Fabinho into the six-yard box, giving Atleti the lead within five minutes at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Official: Borussia Dortmund buy Can

Borussia Dortmund announced they have activated the purchase option on Emre Can and made the transfer from Juventus permanent.

The midfielder had moved on loan until June 2020 for €1m with an option to buy for €25m, which would become obligatory under certain circumstances.

It was never confirmed what those circumstances were, but Borussia Dortmund seem to have either reached it or chosen to activate the option early.

Inter to scout Kumbulla and Pessina

Inter will reportedly scout Verona pair Marash Kumbulla and and Matteo Pessina in today’s clash with Udinese.

Inter have been linked with Kumbulla in recent days, but face stiff competition from clubs around Europe for the 19-year-old.

FCInterNews.It state that the Nerazzurri will send a club representative to observe not just Kumbulla, but also Pessina.

Pessina has caught the eye for the Gialloblu this season playing in a more advanced role.

However the 22-year-old is owned by Atalanta, and is on a season-long loan from La Dea.

Juve ready to sell Ramsey?

Tuttosport claims Juventus are already planning to sell Aaron Ramsey, just a year after he was snapped up as a free agent from Arsenal.

The 29-year-old midfielder has made 19 competitive appearances in a Bianconeri jersey this season, scoring two goals.

However, he has continued to struggle with muscular problems, as injuries blighted the Wales international’s career.

Although Ramsey was technically a free agent, Juventus still had to pay €3.6m in commission to his agents.

Scouts flock to watch Kumbulla

Manchester United, Manchester City, Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund scouts are reportedly watching Hellas Verona defender Marash Kumbulla tonight.

The centre-back is in the starting XI for the Serie A match against Juventus at the Stadio Bentegodi.

It is a special occasion for the Italy-born Albania international, as this is also his 20th birthday.

Kumbulla has already been heavily linked with a summer transfer to Napoli, Inter or even Juventus.
