Capello blasts youth academies

Fabio Capello said some youth team Coaches in Italy “should be locked up” and are to blame for the World Cup debacle.

The current Russia tactician slammed the culture of forming players from a very young age to ignore technique.

“The youth sector needs to be a factory for players, teaching then technique more than tactics and this clearly emerged at the World Cup,” Capello told Gazzetta Regionale.

‘Capello will stay’

The President of the Russian Football Federation insists Coach Fabio Capello will be remaining in his post.

The Italian tactician presided over the nation’s disappointing World Cup campaign, which last night ended with Group Stage elimination following a 1-1 draw with Algeria.

However, during an interview with Russian newspaper Ria Novosti, Nikolai Tolstykh stressed his belief that the 68-year-old has done a good job on the whole while in charge of the country’s national team.
