Strama set for Esteghlal return?

Andrea Stramaccioni and Esteghlal are reportingly closing in on an agreement that will bring the Italian coach back to Tehran.

The former Inter boss terminated his contract because of missed payments, but Tuttomercatoweb claims those issues should be regularised shortly.

That is because, as per the website, an intervention from diplomats and an Italian bank are resolving the economic and bureaucratic problems that occurred earlier this month.

Stramaccioni: 'Could return to Iran'

Former Inter boss Andrea Stramaccioni says he “had no choice” but to leave Iranian side Esteghlal but has left the door open to a comeback.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, Stramaccioni admitted he was sorry to leave the club as fans took to the streets in Tehran to protest at the way their team treated the 43-year-old.

Esteghlal fans protest Strama exit

Angry Esteghlal fans have taken to the Iranian capital of Tehran to protest against their club after Andrea Stramaccioni’s exit.

The Gazzetta dello Sport reports around 100 Esteghlal supporters descended upon the offices of Iran’s Ministry of Sport and Youth, which owns the club.

The matchday programme could even be affected because of a fear that the protests could turn into riots.

Stramaccioni leaves Esteghlal

Former Inter coach Andrea Stramaccioni has had his contract with Iranian side Esteghlal FC terminated due to ‘payment irregularities’.

Stramaccioni had been at the club since June this year and had led the side to first place in the Persian Gulf Pro League this season.

News agency Adnkronos report that the former Udinese boss has had his contract annulled due to repeated missed payments from the Iranian side.

The situation had been dragging on for several weeks and FIFA ruled he could terminate the contract.

Stramaccioni stuck in Iran

Esteghlal Coach Andrea Stramaccioni is reportedly stuck in Iran with his Italian staff, as his ‘tourist’ visa has expired and he wasn't allowed to fly out.

According to news agency ANSA, the former Inter and Udinese tactician tried to fly out to Italy for a family reunion this morning and was told he couldn’t leave the country.

It seems Iranian police held him and his three Italian staff members at the airport, claiming their three-month tourist visas had expired.

Esteghlal boss Andrea Stramaccioni had his Gattuso-Trapattoni-Malesani moment as he accused the Iranian club of ‘cutting off his translator’ in a rant.

Stramaccioni was only appointed Esteghlal boss in June, but already there have been fears he could walk out on the club, amidst disagreements over transfer strategy.

The 43-year-old stayed to oversee their opening League game of the new season, but he let rip after having watched them lose 1-0 to Machine Sazi.

Stramaccioni to quit Esteghlal

Andrea Stramaccioni’s experience in Iran with Esteghlal FC could be over already, with reports he’ll terminate his contract by mutual consent.

The former Inter and Udinese Coach only signed on June 13, with a contract that was meant to run to June 2022.

However, according to Tuttomercatoweb, the tactician and agent Federico Pastorello are in talks with Esteghlal to break off the deal before the season even begins.

Stramaccioni signs for Esteghlal

Andrea Stramaccioni has reportedly signed a two-year contract with Iranian club Esteghlal FC.

Negotiations had begun almost a month ago, but Sky Sport Italia claim this evening that the deal has been done and the contract signed.

It’s a two-year deal with option for a third worth €1.6m per year.

Stramaccioni is a 43-year-old Italian tactician best known for his spells in charge of Inter and Udinese.
