Frosinone announce legal action

Frosinone have officially taken legal action against publications that alleged the club had participated in match-fixing.

Spanish newspaper El Pais reported Frosinone’s Serie A match against Cagliari on April 20 - which the Sardinians won 1-0 - was rigged as part of the Operation Oikos investigation.

Marca and AS also leaked wiretaps of conversations mentioning Frosinone and Lazio striker Ciro Immobile, as well as a Canarini delegate - thought to be team manager Manuel Milana.

Cagliari deny Oikos allegations

Cagliari released a statement denying reports in Spanish paper El Pais that their Serie A game with Frosinone was rigged as part of the Operation Oikos investigation.

The newspaper claims leaked wiretaps from the police show some Serie A matches were the subject of attempted match-fixing by the Spanish group, specifically Cagliari’s 1-0 win over Frosinone on April 20.

Frosinone deny match-fixing allegations

Frosinone released a statement distancing themselves from any involvement in the Spanish match-fixing scandal.

An intercepted telephone call allegedly heard Mattia Mariotti - who is accused of running an illegal gambling ring - and a ‘delegate’ suggest they would meet several Canarini players to discuss the possibility of fixing a match.

Immobile denies illegal betting

Lazio forward Ciro Immobile’s lawyer released a statement categorically denying he is involved in a Spanish match-fixing and betting scandal.

His name was mentioned in leaked wiretapped telephone conversations between two people arrested as part of the Operation Oikos investigation.

It was said by one of the participants that Immobile regularly placed illegal bets.

Immobile and Frosinone in Spain scandal

Ciro Immobile and Frosinone were mentioned in intercepted telephone calls by figures arrested in the Spain match-fixing scandal, it’s reported.

According to newspapers Marca, As, Mundo Deportivo and more, the leaked paperwork from the Operation Oikos investigation included strong links to Italy.

Specifically, Mattia Mariotti – who is accused of running an illegal gambling ring – told Carlos Aranda that Lazio striker Immobile placed regular bets.
