Donati: 'I envy the Bundesliga players'

Lecce defender Giulio Donati ‘envied his colleagues’ from the Bundesliga and wants Italy to follow a similar protocol for the resumption.

After spending six years in Germany, the right-back moved to Lecce in December, as he had been without a club since he was released by Mainz 05 last summer.

Last weekend the German Bundesliga resumed play and the former Inter player agrees with Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s tweet about following a similar protocol in Italy.

Donati: 'Bundesliga lacks tactics'

Lecce defender Giulio Donati was “so determined to come back to Serie A, as I really missed Italian football. There aren’t many tactics in the Bundesliga.”

He left Inter for Germany in 2013, playing for Bayer Leverkusen and Mainz, before returning as a free agent to Lecce in mid-December.

“After seven seasons in Germany, I was so determined to come back to Serie A, as I really missed Italian football,” the 30-year-old said in La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Piatek or Defrel for Villa?

Aston Villa are reportedly considering moves for Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek and Sassuolo forward Gregoire Defrel this month.

A new No 9 is a priority for Villa following an ACL injury to first choice Wesley, and The Telegraph claims they are shopping in Serie A.

The pair have struggled for form in 2019-20, scoring a combined tally of five goals, although Defrel has also been out since November with an ankle injury.
