Leao donates 24,000 masks

Milan forward Rafael Leao has donated 24,000 face masks to a Portuguese hospital in its fight against coronavirus.

The supply was sent to Hospital Garcia de Orta, based in Leao’s hometown of Almada, Lisbon.

“To the footballer and also his father, Antonio Leao, Hospital Garcia de Orta is grateful for the offer,” the facility said in a statement.

The 20-year-old is currently back in Portugal, with Serie A still on pause as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Milan recall foreign players

Milan have recalled all of their foreign-based players in the event training resumes early next month.

There is growing optimism that Serie A clubs will be allowed to start group-based activities again on May 4, when phase two of Italy’s coronavirus response is expected to kick in.

With that in mind, reports claim Milan have asked their overseas squad members to be back on the peninsula by next Thursday.

Report: Leao asked to compensate Sporting

Milan forward Rafael Leao will reportedly have to pay €16.5m in compensation to his former club Sporting CP.

Leao freed himself from the contract that tied him to Sporting Lisbon, where he came through the academy, to help his move to Lille in the summer of 2018.

The young striker allegedly decided to leave Lisbon after a group of fans broke into the club’s sports centre and since that summer, Sporting have opposed the validity of the termination.

Leao: 'Couldn't believe it when Milan called'

Rafael Leao says he “didn’t believe it” when Milan called the forward about joining the club last summer.

Talking to Italian football magazine Calcio 2000, Leao recalled the moment he found out there was interest from Milan.

“I honestly didn’t believe it at first. But when I spoke to Paolo Maldini, a Milan legend, who won so many titles, I was very happy,” Leao told the magazine.

Rafael Leao dreams of Scudetto

Portuguese forward Rafael Leao has revealed that he is working hard on the “defensive aspect of my game” and dreams of winning the Scudetto with Milan.

Savicevic: 'Surprised by Milan'

Milan legend Dejan Savicevic admits he “did not expect” Zlatan Ibrahimovic to make such an impact, but was surprised by the Suso flop.

The Derby della Madonnina against Inter is on Sunday evening, so Savicevic spoke to Radio Rossonera.

“I played in many derbies and obviously remember the victories with most fondness, like the 5-0 against Ronaldo’s Inter in the Coppa Italia, but it’s always tough against them.”

The club has changed a great deal in recent years and Savicevic did not see all this transformation coming.

Ibra the figure Bonucci could've been

Where Leonardo Bonucci and Gonzalo Higuain failed, Zlatan Ibrahimovic can succeed at shouldering the Milan burden, argues Ramez Nathan.

It was one of the worst summers in the history of the club, as in 2017 fan’s ambitions were sky high after new chairman Yonghong Li splashed €200m to rejuvenate a side that has been struggling for years.

With all that Milan have been through in the past decade, many fans will forget where Il Diavolo ended up that year in the Scudetto race, who was coaching, what position Fabio Borini played in or how much the club paid for Andre Silva. But one thing no Rossonero will ever forget is the centre-back drafted in and immediately made captain, Leonardo Bonucci.
