Rossi: 'Bologna birthday with Juve'

Delio Rossi is adamant Bologna can cause an upset against Juventus to celebrate the club’s birthday.

It kicks off on Sunday at 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT), click here for a match preview.

“Today is Bologna’s birthday and we hope to all give the club a big present,” said Coach Rossi in his Press conference.

The Rossoblu were founded on October 3 1909, so are now 106 years old.

Agent: ‘Rossi has shown his loyalty’

Giuseppe Rossi’s Fiorentina renegotiation “shows his firm attachment to the club”, the striker’s agent says.

The forward signed a new deal with the Viola today, which will see his weekly wage drop, but with increased performance-related bonuses. The deal will still run until 2017.

Fiorentina renegotiate Rossi deal

Fiorentina have renegotiated Giuseppe Rossi’s contract, reducing his wages but increasing performance bonuses.

The striker missed the whole of last season with the latest in a series of knee injuries, and has played just 26 matches in the last three seasons.

However, the former Manchester United man has scored 17 goals in that time, showing that he is an asset when fit.

Prandelli: ‘Rossi should apologise’

Cesare Prandelli describes Giuseppe Rossi as “a phenomenon” but insists he was right to leave him out of the World Cup squad.

The Fiorentina striker was not called up for the tournament in Brazil after concerns over his fitness, and the former Manchester United man was critical of the decision.

However, given Rossi subsequently missed the whole of last season, the ex-CT believes he’s due an apology.

“This is a special case,” Prandelli explained in an interview with Radio Blu.

Rossi: 'Bologna, Serie A student'

Coach Delio Rossi characterises Bologna as 'studying to become a good Serie A team' and is wary of the upcoming game against Sassuolo.

The Felsinei lost their opener against Rossi's former team Lazio, but they have a more accessible game to come back tomorrow against the Neroverdi.

Sousa: ‘Happy with Fiorentina’

Fiorentina beat Lucchese 3-0 in a friendly this evening, with Coach Paulo Sousa delighted that Giuseppe Rossi played 90 minutes.

The Viola beat Barcelona and Chelsea in recent pre-season matches, but played a Tuscan derby with the Lega Pro side today.

Gonzalo Rodriguez opened the scoring from a Joaquin corner on 32 minutes, before Ante Rebić made it 2-0 with a fine left-footed strike.

Joaquin completed the scoring in the second half, with young goalkeeper Luca Lezzerini impressive in the second period.

Suarez: ‘Fiorentina can be excellent’

New signing Mario Suarez predicts Fiorentina will have an ‘excellent’ season, after joining from Atletico Madrid.

The midfielder moved to Artemio Franchi as part of the deal which saw Stefan Savic move in the other direction, and was presented to fans and media today.

“I’d completed a cycle in Spain,” Suarez explained in a Press conference.

“I’d won everything I could win. I was looking for a new challenge, and I’m convinced we can achieve great things together.

Fiorentina midfielder Josip Ilicic admits ‘I’m glad I stayed here’, despite links with Bologna.

The Rossoblu were believed to have agreed a €7m deal with the Viola for the Slovenian international, but the 27-year-old opted to remain in Florence.

Sousa: ‘Don’t talk about Salah’

Fiorentina Coach Paulo Sousa says it’s ‘pointless’ to talk about Mohamed Salah, after the winger opted to leave.

The Egyptian international spent the second half of last season on loan with the Viola, as part of the deal which took Juan Cuadrado to Chelsea.
