Serie B: SPAL announce one case of COVID

SPAL have announced one player positive for coronavirus in the team group, but he wasn’t included in the matchday squad for Empoli tonight.

The COVID cases continue to appear in Italian football, this time in Serie B.

“SPAL announce that the latest series of tests revealed a positive case of COVID-19, relating to an athlete from the team group who is  not present at the Empoli trip,” the statement read.

“The player is completely asymptomatic and was promptly isolated according to federal and ministerial directives.

Report: Spartak Moscow bid for Hysaj

Spartak Moscow have reportedly offered €7m for Napoli full-back Elseid Hysaj.

Sky Sport Italia reports the Russian Premier League side are hoping to sign the Albanian this season, one year before his deal in Naples expires.

The 26-year-old has been linked with a move away from Napoli in recent months and Spartak Moscow have prepared a five-year deal for him in Russia.

The broadcaster reveals a €7m offer for Napoli and a deal until June 2025 worth €3m a season.

Official: Zajc moves to Genoa

Genoa have signed Miha Zajc on loan with an option to buy for €3m from Fenerbahce, who have officially announced the deal.

The Turkish club has confirmed the news through their official channels and the former Empoli forward returns to Italy and joins Rolando Maran’s squad ahead of next Sunday’s first Serie A match against Crotone.

“Our player, Miha Zajc, has been loaned to Genoa for one year with the option to buy,” Fenerbahce wrote in a statement. “We wish our player success with his new club.”

Serie B: Lecce sign Henderson

Lecce have officially announced the permanent signing of Scottish midfielder Liam Henderson from Hellas Verona.

The midfielder has joined the Giallorossi on a deal until June 2024, having recently returned to Verona from a loan stint at Empoli in the second tier.

“US Lecce announce the permanent transfer of the footballer Liam Henderson from Hellas Verona,” the club wrote in a statement.

“The player, who has already undergone the medical examinations, has signed a four-year contract.”

Parma lose, Verona entertain

Parma suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Serie B side Empoli, while Hellas Verona won a 4-3 thriller against Slovenians ND Gorica.

There were 1,000 fans allowed into the Stadio Tardini, the first time a Serie A stadium has allowed supporters in since the COVID-19 lockdown, even if it wasn’t for a competitive match.

It didn’t go well for Fabio Liverani’s side, as Empoli emerged 2-0 winners with both goals in the first half by Leonardo Mancosu.

Parma reopens stadium for Empoli friendly

Parma have officially announced the reopening of Stadio Ennio Tardini for the friendly match against Empoli, allowing 1,000 people to attend the match.

The Gialloblu announced the decision on the club’s official website: “The Tardini Stadium in Parma will be the first Serie A facility to open its doors to fans after the COVID-19 emergency.

“Since the last time, the day of Parma-Lazio on February 9, 2020, it has been almost seven months.

Freiburg in for Krunic?

Freiburg have, according to Tuttosport, joined Torino in the chase for Milan midfielder Rade Krunic.

The Bosnian midfielder has been linked with a move to the Grande Torino this summer, as former Milan coach Marco Giampaolo wants to reunite with the midfielder.

The newspaper claims the Diavolo are willing to sell the former Empoli player for €6m, but that Torino will face competition from German side Freiburg.
