Armenia coach offers to resign

Armenia coach Abraham Khashmanyan has offered “to resign tomorrow” after a 9-1 defeat to Italy, only his second game in charge.

The notoriously fiery tactician was the third coach on the Armenia bench during this Euro 2020 qualifying campaign.

He was only appointed a few weeks ago and made his debut in a 1-0 home loss to Greece, but that was no preparation for the humiliation in Palermo.

Khashmanyan: 'Armenia not adventurous'

New Armenia coach Abraham Khashmanyan warns he “doesn’t believe in being too adventurous in our football” for the final Euro 2020 qualifier with Italy.

It kicks off at the Stadio Barbera in Palermo on Monday at 19.45 GMT.

“We had only two days to train and recover players, so we’ll try to give our best in the circumstances,” said the tactician in a press conference.
