Fiorentina: Benedetto over Chicharito

Fiorentina look to be focusing on Boca Juniors striker Dario Benedetto after West Ham United gave Javier Hernandez their No 9 shirt.

It was reported earlier in the week that Hernandez had been offered to Fiorentina.

However, West Ham failed to bring in Maxi Gomez or Callum Wilson and they tweeted on Wednesday that ‘Chicharito’ had become their new No 9.

Fiorentina ask for Chicharito

Fiorentina want an experienced striker, so are eyeing up Chicharito Hernandez of West Ham or Boca Juniors forward Dario Benedetto.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, Vincenzo Montella believes Giovanni Simeone would benefit from a more mature strike partner.

The names on the list include 29-year-old Benedetto of Boca Juniors, although he has also been linked with Olympique Marseille.

A very intriguing option would be Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez, whose contract with West Ham United is due to expire at the end of the season.

Plans to tear down San Siro are breaking Football Italia Chief Correspondent Richard Hall’s heart, as a pilgrimage to the cathedral of calcio is irreplaceable.

May 27, 2007, never for me has San Siro felt like that. Inter lifted the Scudetto after beating Torino 3-0. Still revelling in the incredible goal scored by Douglas Maicon, the party lasted six hours on the Curva Nord from start to finish. That was my idyllic moment, however, it’s only one of so many etched over almost a 15-year period of pilgrimage to Milan’s second Duomo.

Sky: De Rossi stays in Serie A

Daniele De Rossi has decided against going to Boca Juniors or MLS, claim Sky Sport Italia, as he’ll accept a Serie A move against his beloved Roma.

The midfielder wanted to continue where he spent his entire career, with his hometown club, but was not offered a new contract.

He turns 36 next month and will be a free agent, so there were suggestions he’d take on a new adventure at Boca Juniors, LAFC or the LA Galaxy.

Perotti: 'De Rossi right for Boca'

Roma winger Diego Perotti believes that Daniele De Rossi would have “no problem adapting” to Boca Juniors if he were to join them.

The World Cup winner recently bid farewell to the Giallorossi after 17 years and is now weighing up his options, with a move to the MLS or Argentina on offer.

The 35-year could link up with his former teammate Nicolas Burdisso, who is the sporting director of Argentine Primera Division side Boca Juniors after he ruled out playing for another Italian club.
