Trap: 'Mancini deserves Italy job'

Giovanni Trapattoni believes Roberto Mancini “deserves” to be the new Italy Coach and can see Maurizio Sarri in the Premier League.

Still without a CT since Giampiero Ventura was fired in November, the Azzurri seem on the verge of signing Mancini later this month.

“He trained champions and accumulated a lot of international experience at club level. It’s a position that honours him, but also one that he deserves,” Trap told RMC Sport.

English trio chase Hysaj?

Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool are all reportedly chasing Napoli full-back Elseid Hysaj.

According to Sportitalia’s Alfredo Pedulla, Hysaj has a €50m release clause, which would be deemed affordable in the eyes of the trio.

Pedulla explains Chelsea have already met the Albanian’s agent Mario Giuffredi ‘several times’, with the Blues considering the 24-year-old ‘perfect’ for the Premier League and Davide Zappacosta not certain to stay at Stamford Bridge.

Dzeko: Much better than City

Edin Dzeko accepts he gave up ‘the best League in the world’ for Roma but insists ‘I’m a much better player now than I was at Manchester City’.

Dzeko scored 72 goals in 189 games for City, winning two Premier League titles, but failed to venture beyond the Champions League last 16 during his time at the Etihad Stadium.

The striker went on to join Roma in 2015 and has gone on to break new ground in Italy, setting up a semi-final with Liverpool after firing the Giallorossi past Barcelona.

Juventus are reportedly one of three clubs interested in signing Watford forward Richarlison.

Gazzetta dello Sport cites reports in The Sun and Mirror, which claim Richarlison is being pursued by Juve, Manchester United and Bayern Munich.

However, it is noted United are leading the chase for the Brazilian, given they see him as ‘the perfect replacement’ for Anthony Martial, who himself has been linked with the Bianconeri.

Refs 'surprised' by VAR scepticism

Former referee Paolo Casarin is “surprised and disappointed by the scepticism” on VAR and thinks other tournaments should follow Serie A’s example.

The video replay technology was implemented in Serie A and the Bundesliga this season, while La Liga and Ligue 1 are due to follow, but this week the Premier League voted to delay its introduction.

“Refereeing designator Nicola Rizzoli continues to use young officials who, aided by technology, make fewer and fewer mistakes,” wrote Cavasin in the Corriere della Sera newspaper.

‘Inter lead Serie A charge for Lunin’

Inter are leading Serie A’s charge for Andriy Lunin, according to the agent of the Zorya Luhansk goalkeeper.

Inter had reportedly beaten Juventus and Arsenal to Lunin’s signature, and while Irakli Khvedeliani insisted no deal had been done, he noted the Nerazzurri’s ‘interest’ over the Gunners, as well as the likes of Roma, Napoli and the Old Lady.

“There are several clubs on the trail of Lunin, one of them I think are Red Bull Salzburg from Austria,” he told Radio Crc.

Juve: Alex Sandro out, Bernat in?

Juventus will reportedly sell left-back Alex Sandro this summer and could replace him with Bayern Munich’s Juan Bernat.

According to Tuttosport, Juve hope to receive €60m for Alex Sandro from a Premier League club or Paris Saint-Germain, despite his below-par campaign.

The newspaper adds Juve will then target Bernat, who has made just seven appearances for Bayern this term.

However, that tally has been influenced by the Spaniard being sidelined by a serious injury at the start of the season.

Miha ‘wanted in Premier League’

It is reported that Sinisa Mihajlovic is being targeted by two English Premier League clubs, with a view to taking over in the summer.

He has spent the entirety of his club coaching career so far in Italian football, having had spells with the likes of the Granata, Milan, Sampdoria and Fiorentina.

However, it is thought the 49-year-old would be tempted by a move to the English top-flight and it seems he would not be short of offers.
