'Pessimism' over Martial's United stay

Anthony Martial’s agent admits he is ‘very pessimistic’ over a new contract for the Manchester United forward, who is a reported target for Serie A clubs.

Martial was heavily linked with Juventus over the summer, while Inter and Milan have each been credited with an interest in the Frenchman this season.

Benitez: Napoli always in my heart

Rafa Benitez says Napoli ‘remain in my heart’, they can go ‘all the way’ under Carlo Ancelotti and Antonio Conte left behind an ‘excellent base’ at Chelsea.

Benitez led Napoli to the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa between 2013 and 2015, which remain the Partenopei’s last pieces of silverware, while his successor Maurizio Sarri suffered his first Premier League defeat as Chelsea boss at the weekend.

Seedorf wants Premier League job

Former Milan Coach Clarence Seedorf admits he wants to work in England one day - “who doesn’t want to work in the Premier League?”

The Dutchman was one of the greatest players of his generation, winning the Champions League with the Rossoneri, Real Madrid and Ajax.

He was given his first job on the bench by Silvio Berlusconi, but he lasted just 22 games and has since had spells at Shenzen, Deportivo La Coruña and now the Cameroon national team.

Sarri: Love English football, but...

Maurizio Sarri says he is loving life as Chelsea boss but believes ‘timing’ needs to improve in English football.

Sarri has taken Chelsea on an 18-match unbeaten run since opening his tenure with defeat to Manchester City in the Community Shield.

“Our results and the quality of our football have been positive,” continued the former Napoli Coach to Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Eighteen games unbeaten, in a competitive reality like ours, shows we’re on the right track.

Ranieri promises 'Italian' Fulham

Claudio Ranieri has vowed to  bring an Italian edge to Fulham. “For us Italians, it is important to maintain a clean sheet.”

Ranieri’s arrival at Fulham comes just two years since he led Leicester City from the bottom of the Premier League to the first title in their history but also at a time when the Cottagers are leaking goals, with 31 conceded in their opening 12 games.

“We have to work hard,” said the former Juventus, Roma and Inter boss at his official unveiling on Thursday.

Gasp: ‘Didn't want Premier League’

Gian Piero Gasperini reveals he had the chance to go to the Premier League “and I know I’d have done well” but he didn’t want to leave Italy.

The Atalanta Coach is seen as one of Italy’s finest tactical minds, and he was asked by Gazzetta dello Sport if he’d ever consider England.

“I don’t think Atalanta would let me go, so I’d have an excuse…” Gasperini laughed.

OFFICIAL: Fulham appoint Ranieri

Premier League strugglers Fulham have officially appointed former Juventus, Roma and Inter boss Claudio Ranieri as their new manager.

A statement on Fulham’s official website confirms Ranieri has signed ‘a multi-year contract’ and replaces Slavisa Jokanovic, who was sacked after the Cottagers’s poor start to the season.

“It is an honour to accept Mr. Khan’s invitation and opportunity to lead Fulham, a fantastic club with tradition and history,” said the 67-year-old.

Ancelotti: ‘Too many insults’

Napoli Coach Carlo Ancelotti reiterates his beliefs about the atmosphere in Italian football - “abroad it’s unlikely you’ll be insulted, in England it’s impossible”.

The three-time Champions League winner said last week that there are too many insults in the stadiums, and he expanded on that at the FIGC’s symposium today.

“The thing that’s most lacking abroad is definitely the tactical aspect,” Ancelotti said.

Sarri sets new Chelsea record

Maurizio Sarri has set a new record as the first Chelsea manager ever to go unbeaten in his opening 10 Premier League games.

The former Empoli and Napoli Coach still hasn’t tasted defeat in the tournament since replacing Antonio Conte this season.

Today’s 4-0 demolition of Burnley was achieved without star man Eden Hazard, who was left behind due to an injury.

Sarri has won seven of his first 10 Premier League games, drawing the other three.

Serie A battling with Premier League

Serie A continues to battle with the English Premier League for second place in UEFA’s nation coefficient.

After matchday three of the Champions League, England has a lead of just 0.022 coefficient points over Italy, with both teams still having six teams in European competition.

The English total over five years is 68.462, compared to 68.440 for Italy.

So far this season Serie A sides have picked up 6.357 points, while team from the Premier League have 5.642.
