Southampton contact Mihajlovic
Sinisa Mihajlovic has reportedly been contacted for the Southampton job, but Mark Hughes remains the favourite after Mauricio Pellegrino’s dismissal.
 
Pellegrino was fired last night after the Saints dropped to one point above the relegation zone and won only one of their last 17 Premier League games.
 
According to Sportitalia, former Milan and Torino Coach Mihajlovic has received a call about the role.

Khedira: 'Juve more experienced'

Sami Khedira is confident Juventus will get past Tottenham Hotspur, but admits he sees himself in the Premier League in future.

The first leg of the Round of 16 ended 2-2 in Turin, so the Bianconeri need a victory or a score draw of 2-2 and above at Wembley on Wednesday evening.

“We have a lot of experience and know how to tackle big games, and we have many other teams ahead of us - including Tottenham,” the German international told Stuttgarter Zeitung newspaper.

Conte slams ‘stupid’ punditry

Antonio Conte has slammed Jamie Redknapp and Gary Neville for their ‘stupid’ punditry after Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.

Redknapp and Neville branded Chelsea’s performance at City ‘anti-football’ and ‘embarrassing’ respectively during their post-match analysis on Sky Sports.

“The pundit has to use the head to understand when you speak about tactics,” the Coach was quoted as saying by The Guardian.

Guardiola: 'Conte a tactical master'

UEFA confirms CL changes

UEFA has confirmed the new qualifying process for the Champions League, with Italy getting four automatic group stage places.

From next season, all of Serie A’s top four will go straight into the group stages, as opposed to the current situation where two go in automatically and one must go through a play-off match.

Kessie-United links rubbished

A leading Milan source has rubbished fresh reports claiming Franck Kessie had expressed a desire to join Manchester United.

Several English sources reported over the weekend that Kessie had told Tuttomercatoweb he ‘dreamt’ of playing for United one day.

Conte responds to Luis Enrique talk

Antonio Conte has asserted that he is “not thinking for one moment” about leaving Chelsea and thanked their ‘understanding’ fans.

Heavy defeats to Bournemouth and Watford reportedly prompted Chelsea to headhunt former Roma and Barcelona boss Luis Enrique, but Conte made it clear he would never leave the Blues on his own accord.

“I am not thinking for only one moment the possibility of going away from this club,” the former Italy CT said at a Press conference for Monday’s game against West Brom.

Italian clubs spend €50m

Italian clubs spent just €50m in the January transfer window, with the English Premier League spending almost 10 times that.

Last night Napoli saw a big move for Matteo Politano collapse, and that would really have been the only big money deal this month.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, €50m was spent by Serie A clubs in total this window, with La Repubblica reporting just a €20m net spend.
