Roma and El Shaarawy COVID scare

Roma are locked in a ‘bubble’ after two members of staff tested positive for COVID-19, with reports Stephan El Shaarawy’s medical was also postponed by Coronavirus.

Their game with Spezia is due to kick off at 14.00 GMT, click here for a match preview.

According to multiple sources including Sky Sport Italia and the Corriere dello Sport, two members of staff tested positive for COVID-19.

Return of fans 'unlikely' this season

Minister for Sport Vincenzo Spadafora admits it is ‘unlikely’ Serie A stadiums will be open to fans during this season.

We are nearing a year since the lockdown was imposed in March 2020, as the first Italian – and indeed European – case of COVID-19 was confirmed on February 20, 2020.

“I think it’s unlikely we’ll see the stadiums opened up again during this season,” Spadafora told Titolo V on RAI Tre.

Milan: Rebic and Krunic negative, Theo 'false positive'

Milan have announced that Ante Rebic and Rade Krunic have tested negative for coronavirus and that Theo Hernandez was a ‘false positive’

When the documentation has been sent to the competent health authorities, the left-back can resume training as normal.

In addition to the ‘false positive’ result for Hernandez, the latest molecular tests have given Rebic and Krunic a negative result.

Fabian Ruiz has COVID-19

Napoli announce that midfielder Fabian Ruiz has tested positive for COVID-19 and therefore misses Sunday’s match with Fiorentina and the Italian Supercup with Juventus.

It kicks off on Sunday at 11.30 GMT, click here for a match preview.

The Spain international is so far the only player in the squad to have tested positive in the round of swabs taken this weekend.

He has immediately been placed in isolation in his home, as per protocol.

Napoli COVID investigation shelved

The FIGC Disciplinary Commission has shelved an investigation into Napoli for potential violation of the COVID-19 protocol during the cancelled game with Juventus.

The investigation had been opened in October after the Partenopei didn’t make the trip to Turin for their Serie A fixture, citing a travel ban imposed by the local health authority (ASL).

Napoli were originally docked a point and awarded an automatic 3-0 defeat to Juventus, but won their appeal at the CONI Collegio di Garanzia to have that decision overturned.

Osimhen still has COVID

Napoli confirm Victor Osimhen is still testing positive for COVID-19 after this morning’s swab.

The Nigeria international had already been out with a dislocated shoulder when he went home for his birthday and contracted COVID-19.

It was hoped he would recover in time for this weekend’s Serie A game against Fiorentina, but he is still out of action.

“The molecular nasal pharyngeal swab carried out this morning on the footballer Victor Osimhen gave a positive result for COVID-19,” the club wrote in a statement.

Benevento: Schiattarella has COVID

Benevento announced that midfielder Pasquale Schiattarella has tested positive for coronavirus.

The newly promoted side have confirmed on their official website that the midfielder has tested positive for COVID-19, after having tested negative on January 9, 11, 12 and 13.

“Benevento Calcio announce that Pasquale Schiattarella tested positive for COVID-19 today,” the club confirmed.

Saelemaekers to return against Cagliari?

Milan could have Alexis Saelemaekers back in time for the match against Cagliari on Monday.

Tuttosport reports the Rossoneri are counting on the Belgian winger, who has been out with a muscle injury since the 3-2 win over Lazio at San Siro on December 23.

Empoli players ordered to isolate when negative

The ASL in Naples is causing controversy again after the Empoli chief medic confirms three players were ordered to miss the Napoli game despite testing negative for COVID-19.

The order arrived in the hours before the Coppa Italia Round of 16 tie that coach Alessio Dionisi, a member of staff and players Leonardo Mancuso, Roberto Pirrello and Szymon Zurkowski would all have to self-isolate in their hotel.

Bologna: Ravaglia positive for COVID

Bologna have announced goalkeeper Federico Ravaglia has tested positive for COVID-19.

During the last round of swabs carried out by the Rossoblu, the test results revealed one positive case.

After having confirmed Ravaglia had tested positive, the club made it know through a press release and the goalkeeper will not be available against Genoa tomorrow.

“Bologna FC 1909 announce that following the tests carried out, Federico Ravaglia has tested positive for COVID-19,” the club said in a statement.
