Rossi close to Barcelona

Italy international Giuseppe Rossi is reported to have a deal in place to join Barcelona for €30m.

The Villarreal starlet has been linked with numerous clubs this season, including a return to Serie A for Juventus or Inter.

According to Spanish radio station Cadena Ser, Rossi has agreed a four-year contract with Barca.

There is still the matter of a transfer fee to be decided, as Villarreal do not want to release the New Jersey-born striker for less than €30m.

Barcelona lead Sanchez race

Barcelona are said to be surging ahead in the race to sign Udinese talent Alexis Sanchez, surpassing Manchester City, Inter and Juventus.

El Nino Maravilla has been a breakout start this season and it's no coincidence his injury problems have coincided with a slip in form for the Friulani.

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Barcelona directors met with agent Felicevic on Tuesday before the Champions League semi-final second leg against Real Madrid.

"Please, let us not talk about Mascherano going to Italy," Horacio Zandonadi told Radio Mana Mana on Monday.

"Let's not joke. Mascherano plays for Barcelona or, in other words, the best club side in the world.
