Rossi: I was Barca-bound...

Giuseppe Rossi claims he was Barcelona-bound in 2011, Inter are Juventus’ biggest challengers and Rocco Commisso is ‘serious’ about Fiorentina.

Rossi scored 32 goals for Villarreal in 2010-11 and was heavily linked with Barca the following summer, but Inter new boy Alexis Sanchez - then of Udinese - ended up moving to Camp Nou instead.

“Lukaku works the attack by himself but plays for the team,” continued the former Italy striker to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Juve squad cost €719m

Juventus spent €719m on transfer fees to assemble the squad, but Manchester City are the first club to surpass €1bn.

According to the CIES Football Observatory, the Bianconeri are the fifth biggest spenders in the top five European leagues.

Over the course of purchasing all their players, they paid out €719m in transfer fees.

This puts them above Barcelona, who spent €697m, but behind Manchester United on €751m, Real Madrid €902m and Paris Saint-Germain’s €913m.

Busquets: 'Fabian will be the best'

Sergio Busquets expects Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz and Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong to become “the best in the world in their roles.”

The Spain international has been very impressed with his Roja teammate, who at 23 is swiftly becoming a key figure in the Spain midfield.

“Both Fabian and De Jong have a great deal of quality,” said Busquets in a Press conference.

“Perhaps Frenkie still needs to adapt fully to the Barcelona style of play, but both represent the present and the future.

Juve 'priced Barca out of Berna'

Juventus reportedly priced Barcelona out of Federico Bernardeschi after they wanted €23m plus Ivan Rakitic.

According to Mundo Deportivo, both players were happy to swap clubs, with Rakitic particularly keen on making the move.

However, the newspaper warns the deal fell apart after Juve also requested €23m on top of giving Bernardeschi away.

The two midfielders are valued at €40m by transfer portal Transfermarkt and the Blaugrana were therefore unwilling to put up the extra money.

Fabian confirms Napoli talks

‘Very happy’ Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz has confirmed that talks are under way over a new contract.

Fabian has grown into Marek Hamsik’s heir since joining Napoli from Real Betis for €30m last summer, although he could not prevent a 4-3 defeat to Juventus at the weekend.

“Naples is a big city and everyone supports the team,” the 23-year-old told Marca.

“You can see it every day on the streets. Neapolitans love Napoli and football.

Juve not giving up Rakitic?

Juventus are reportedly not giving up on Ivan Rakitic and could go back in for the Barcelona midfielder in January.

Rakitic ended up staying at Barca after Juve refused to exchange him for Federico Bernardeschi.

However, Tuttosport claims the Croat had reached ‘a broad agreement’ over personal terms with the Bianconeri and still ‘hopes’ he can move next year.

The 31-year-old’s place at Camp Nou is under threat after the emergence of Arthur and Frenkie de Jong.

Ronaldo among The Best finalists

Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo is among the final three nominees vying for The Best FIFA Men’s Player award.

Ronaldo helped Juve win their eighth straight Scudetto following his Italian-record €112m transfer from Real Madrid last summer, scoring 28 goals in all competitions.

The No 7 also captained Portugal to glory at the inaugural edition of the Nations League over the summer.

He will be joined on the podium by long-term rival Lionel Messi and Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk.

Juve talks for Boateng?

Juventus are reportedly in talks with Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng after Giorgio Chiellini’s serious knee injury.

There are even reports in Bild that Boateng skipped training and a photoshoot today, so could fly out to Turin within hours.

Chiellini tore his anterior cruciate ligament in training and is expected to be out for around six months.
