Davide Nicola wants to “keep the dream alive” of securing Serie A safety after a shock victory over Inter put them within three points of Empoli.

The Squali are in their historic first ever top flight campaign and made quite a splash with two straight wins over Chievo and Inter.

“We have a very tough road ahead of us, but we want to be competitive and keep the dream alive,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“Without doing too much talking, we’re proving on the field that we are competitive. A single game won’t change the situation, as we need something extraordinary to achieve our final objective.”

Nicola was sent off at the Stadio Scida for dissent after a Danilo D’Ambrosio tackle on Adrian Stoian.

“This is the second time in recent weeks and anyone who knows me realises I am never rude. I thought it was a foul on Stoian, it was two-footed and I said so.

“I am fiery and don’t always stay within the technical area, so the fourth official keeps a close eye on me, but I am never offensive.”
