Italian politician and Milan fan Matteo Salvini believes Gianluigi Donnarumma should leave and take “people trafficker” Mino Raiola with him.

The 18-year-old goalkeeper refused to sign a new contract worth €5m per season, but last week opened the door to new negotiations.

“I am honestly struggling to say I hope he remains at Milan,” Lega Nord leader Salvini told Radio 1.

“He’s a valid player, but someone who is always hesitating, I might stay or go, I might sign or not, I don’t know if I’d like to still have him in the Milan jersey.

“Consistency is the most important thing for me and that comes first. If he doesn’t want to stay, then I wouldn’t keep him. Who is forcing him to remain?

“He was silent for a week, in the hands of that improbable agent who traffics people for millions of Euros. If you say no to me once, as far as I am concerned, it’s over.

“It’s the same in politics – if you fool me once, you won’t fool me again.”
