Genoa President Enrico Preziosi had been accused by the club’s ultras of not doing enough to push through a sale, amidst a sudden scaling back in their transfer activity.

A statement on the Grifone’s official website read: “The President takes note of the announcement made by ‘Ultra Genoa Cfc 1893’ and states the following:

“1. No negotiations were ever interrupted; the parties have only taken the necessary time to make the appropriate insights, as is custom in any sale of a football club.

“2. In this regard, a joint statement by the seller and buyer will be issued next week to illustrate the continuation of negotiations.

“3. In the meantime, we ask all those who care about Genoa and don’t know the facts to be serene because the President has his own interests, but if there are better and quicker solutions out there, they should come forward. Otherwise, they must wait.

“The President, Enrico Preziosi.”
