Eusebio Di Francesco admits Celta Vigo “massacred” Roma in their 4-1 defeat to the Spanish side on Sunday.

Roma were already 4-0 down by the 40th minute in Vigo, and Di Francesco conceded his team did not prepare for the friendly well enough.

“They massacred us, it was a defeat in all respects,” the Coach said after the game.

“This game serves us as a lesson for us. I didn’t like anything – the team, our preparation for the game or our approach.

“There are evaluations to be made in the right places, even though the Coach is the first to take responsibility.

“Still, I always say that you play like you train. You don’t prepare for matches the day before.

“I sincerely didn’t expect that in the first half and this new way of working must now get into their heads, although I’m sure we’ll have a great game against Atalanta.”
