New Inter signing Joao Cancelo says Dani Alves is “my idol”, and is ready to face Roma on Saturday.
The full-back has joined the Nerazzurri on loan from Valencia, and answered questions from fans today.
“Why did I come to Inter?” Cancelo considered, responding to social media questions.
“The fact of playing in a different league. It’s a very physical league compared to the Spanish one, it’ll be a way to learn.

“Why did I come to Inter?” Cancelo considered, responding to social media questions.
“The fact of playing in a different league. It’s a very physical league compared to the Spanish one, it’ll be a way to learn.
“It all happened very quickly, Inter is a huge club which has proven itself at the European level. I accept the challenge, I have to work and help Inter achieve our goals.
“I came to Inter for the challenge, seeing the trophies I understand that this is one of the biggest clubs in Europe. It’s a responsibility.
“Serie A is one of the most important leagues in Europe, it’s very competitive. There have always been great teams in Serie A.
“It’ll be a new experience for me, I have the opportunity to represent a big club and win my place in the World Cup squad.”
Cancelo has taken the number 7 shirt previously worn by Luis Figo, but sees his role model as a Brazilian right-back.
“He was a very important player but I chose it because it’s my favourite number and for my mother. My role model is Dani Alves.
“Dani Alves is my idol, but I don’t feel like him. Seven was my mum’s favourite number, as well as her birthday.”
The defender was then asked if he’s ready to face Roma this weekend.
“Yes,” Cancelo assured, before discussing some other landmarks for this season.
“San Siro? I’ve played in important stadiums, but not there. It’s one of the greatest stadiums, so it’ll be very emotional.
“The derby with Milan? It’ll be a great match between two top sides, I hope we can win.”
