Lazio-Milan has reportedly been called off after flash floods made it impossible to guarantee public safety.
It was due to kick off at 14.00 UK time (13.00 GMT) at the Stadio Olimpico.
Heavy rain was expected, and the Olimpico staff put down plastic sheeting to protect the pitch yesterday, while drains in the vicinity of the arena were cleared.
However, the extent of the rainfall and strong winds caused problems all over the city, including electricity blackouts, blocked roads and the suspension of the Metro service.
It became impossible to guarantee public safety, so the local authorities made the call to cancel the Lazio-Milan match.
The weather warnings had already prompted the Prefecture in Genoa to call off Sampdoria v Roma on Saturday evening.
Udinese-Genoa was also believed to be at risk today, but the roads are holding up and the pitch has been covered since last night.
The worst of the weather has been in Livorno, where flash floods have left seven dead and another three missing.
