It’s the latest chapter in an increasingly tense situation at Stamford Bridge, where Conte won the Premier League title at his first attempt.

He was visibly frustrated over the summer at the lack of transfer activity, missing out on several key targets to other clubs, such as Romelo Lukaku to Manchester United.

Conte has also protested his squad is too small to compete in the Premier League and Champions League this season.

Yesterday’s 1-0 home defeat to Manchester City will have only exacerbated the tension and last week Conte confessed he was missing home.

Options for the former Italy and Juventus boss would be Milan or Roma, but Inter gave up on him when signing Luciano Spalletti.
