Tavecchio denies harassment allegations

Carlo Tavecchio denies allegations of sexual harassment against him - “I’ve instructed my lawyers to act in all the relevant forums”.

An unnamed woman has alleged that the former FIGC President repeatedly harassed her, and claims to have evidence to back up what she says.

Tavecchio is alleged to have repeated his inappropriate behaviour over a period of three years, including asking to touch the woman’s breasts.

“In relation to what has been reported in some Press articles, I affirm my correctness and, to protect my image and integrity, I’ve instructed my lawyers to act in all the relevant forums.”

Tavecchio resigned as President of the Federation after Italy failed to qualify for the World Cup.

However, he was already a controversial figure after racist comments about black players and recorded remarks in which he insulted Jewish people and the gay community.

Tavecchio has not been charged with any crime in relation to the alleged sexual harassment.
