Napoli saw their unbeaten Serie A record ended by Gonzalo Higuain’s early strike, as Juventus conquered the Stadio San Paolo.

Pipita was not meant to take part in the game against his former teammates, undergoing surgery to stabilise a fractured bone in his hand on Monday, but he proved to be decisive.

After just 13 minutes, Higuain ran on to a Paulo Dybala through ball to finish the counter, stroking past on-rushing Pepe Reina.

After just 13 minutes, Higuain ran on to a Paulo Dybala through ball to finish the counter, stroking past on-rushing Pepe Reina.

Although Napoli kept the ball for long periods and Gigi Buffon made some fine saves on Lorenzo Insigne and Marek Hamsik, Reina performed the block of the night on Blaise Matuidi’s volley.

The Partenopei’s status as the leaders is also now at risk after 12 wins and two draws, with Inter lurking only two points behind.
