Fassone appeared on Milan TV for a Q&A session on Monday afternoon, with the Rossoneri running the hashtag #askFassone, where he was asked about the transfer market.

“Leo’s our captain, he’s not one of the players we are discussing or negotiating for,” explained the CEO.

“He’s one of the team’s strengths and he’ll stay with us for a long time. Halilovic? We’re at more than a handshake.

“It’s an opportunity for a very talented player, who will complement the Milan squad. The market? We have cash in hand to invest in the market if we wanted to.

“Li hasn’t made us miss out on anything, but what we have to deal with are the rules of Financial Fair Play.

“Last year we were freed by the alleged Voluntary Agreement, but this year we must balance income and expenses.

“Sales of big names? No player has come to Mirabelli or I to say that they want to leave.

“If it happened, we’d think about it because whoever stays must do so with conviction, but we hope it doesn’t.”

Bonucci had been linked with Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United, while Halilovic is a 22-year-old attacker who spent two seasons with Barcelona but was relegated with Hamburg and Las Palmas last term.
