Mirko Vucinic should be thanked by Juventus fans, insists Dejan Savicevic. “If Juve are fighting for the Scudetto, it is also down to him.”
The striker has come under attack recently by supporters and media for some glaring misses, but is consistently picked by Coach Antonio Conte.
“If Juve are fighting for the Scudetto, then it is also down to him,” the President of the Montenegrin FA told Tuttosport.
“Mirko is an unusual fellow, it’s true, but he remains a great player. It’s also true he should’ve scored more than four goals this season, but Mirko works very hard for the team and that can mean losing sharpness in front of goal.
“I don’t think he is inconsistent at all. Conte has been able to bring him back to his best.”
However, former Milan star Savicevic still tips his old club to take home the Scudetto.
“Zlatan Ibrahimovic is just a small step behind Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. When he’s on form, the Swede can win games single-handed. Unfortunately Milan picked Barcelona in the Champions League draw, who are the strongest side in the world.”
Tonight there is Fiorentina-Juventus, but the Viola are without star Montenegro international Stevan Jovetic.
“Stevan still needs to confirm himself at the highest level, especially as the last year and a half has been conditioned by so many injuries.
“Could he join Juventus? I don’t know, he will be the one to decide his future and I cannot give advice on that. I am certain that sooner or later Jovetic will join a big club.”
