Edinson Cavani celebrated his late brace to earn Napoli a point in Udine, but admits “it was our fault the game was going badly.”
The Partenopei were 2-0 down when Udinese went down to 10 men, then Cavani saw his penalty saved before staging a late comeback for 2-2.
“It is a valuable point that we earned here, even if we should’ve had the attitude of the final minutes right from the start,” said the Uruguayan.
“It was our fault the game was going badly and we needed to take a different approach to this match.
“We are fighting for third place and now have to keep pushing all the way. We cannot give up.”
Cavani has a very poor record from penalties and saw his central spot-kick saved by Samir Handanovic.
“If I tried to lift the penalty, then Handanovic would’ve got it anyway. That’s what goalkeepers are there for and compliments to him for realising that’s what I wanted to do.”
