Italy Under-21 boss Ciro Ferrara was clearly delighted following Wednesday’s comprehensive 4-1 win over Scotland.
The two teams met in a friendly last night and the Azzurrini stormed to an emphatic victory with goals from Alessandro Florenzi, Ciro Immobile, Lorenzo Insigne and Samuele Longo.
“We played a great game on a tough pitch at a point of the season when energy is lower than it was at the start of the campaign,” said the former Juventus boss.
“We had quite a few absences, but, despite this, our level of play was really high and those new to the team did well.
“It was a real game and Scotland caused us difficulties at the start because of their high rhythm, but we responded excellently.
“All of the team confirmed themselves – including those players who are part of the set-up, but not always in the squad.”
Ferrara’s choices were restricted given that Week 33’s postponed Serie A round was recovered on Tuesday and Wednesday.
