Serie A side Fiorentina have confirmed their interest in Catania boss Vincenzo Montella, while they insist Stevan Jovetic will remain at the club.
“We have identified Montella as the right Coach for our rebirth and we are now monitoring the situation,” operating President Mario Cognigni told Radio CRC.
“However, for the moment, he is still contracted to Catania and we thus can’t start any talks. Saying that, it seems like he wants a new experience.”
The Viola are looking for a new Coach after dismissing Delio Rossi this month. Montella is now a serious option after his expected return to Roma fell through.
The Tuscan official also moved to deny speculation that star man Jovetic could be sacrificed amidst reports that Napoli may make a €30m bid for him.
“He has along contract with us which was renewed just a few months ago,” Cognigni continued. “There are not the conditions in place for a separation.
“We at the club have a very close relationship with Jovetic and I think it would be hard for any team to tempt him away if his desire is to stay here.”
