Roma may no longer be interested in signing Fernando Gago – but Serie A rivals Inter allegedly are.
The Argentine international midfielder made 30 appearances on loan at Roma from Real Madrid this season, but the capital club have allowed a deadline to pay his €7m buyout clause to pass.
This morning's Gazzetta dello Sport contains suggestions that Inter will now step into the void and make a bid for Gago's services.
Midfield is perhaps the area the Nerazzurri are most in need of regeneration, especially after losing the influential Thiago Motta to Paris Saint-Germain in January.
Former Boca Juniors man Gago would be right at home at Appiano Gentile given the large Argentine contingent already there.
