The agent of Giuseppe Rossi has admitted that his client is unlikely to leave Villarreal until he has fully recovered from injury.
The Italian international is rated highly by clubs in Serie A, but having suffered a recurrence of his knee ligament injury in April, he could now be out of action until March 2013.
Roma were paired with a possible cut-price bid because of his fitness issues and Villarreal’s relegation, but the forward’s representative has cooled reports of a switch.
“There was some interest in him from Roma, but the deal was complicated because of the injury,” Federico Pastorello told Sport Italia.
“We can talk about it again when Pepito returns to the field of play.”
The 25-year-old, who has missed out on Euro 2012, has been at Villarreal since 2007. He was paired with moves to Barcelona and Juventus last summer.
